A Spray Technician Assistant supports our sports turf management operations across all Hillsborough County high school athletic fields. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in well-maintained fields, and is eager to learn from experienced spray technicians.
The Spray Tech Assistant will assist in the application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides across baseball, softball, and practice fields. You’ll work alongside a licensed Spray Technician, ensuring applications are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with mixing, loading, and applying liquid products (herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers)
- Support setup, calibration, and cleaning of application equipment and boom sprayers
- Help monitor weather and wind conditions for safe application
- Maintain equipment and follow all safety and compliance guidelines
- Assist with recording product use, application areas, and dates
- Report field conditions and any weed or pest concerns to the lead Spray Technician
Requirements:
- Previous landscaping, groundskeeping, or turf experience preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working around chemicals and handling application equipment (PPE provided)
- Willingness to learn and follow safety and compliance procedures
- Reliable transportation and punctuality are essential
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods
