PURPOSE: Manufacturing Engineering creates and supports all processes in the Molding Department to assure safe, high quality, cost effective, and environmentally responsible manufacturing of Lincoln’s welding equipment products. The work will be highly detailed development and documentation of all processes used to manufacture plastic parts in the Molding Department. The Technologist is expected to handle small to large sized projects and day-to-day shop support without much supervision. Assignments will typically involve a mix of process improvements resulting in quality, cost and environmental improvements. In addition, the Technologist works with R&D and the Toolroom to source and develop tooling needed for new parts and revisions to existing parts. The Technologist will also be responsible for documenting all changes to existing tooling and any new tooling created. Supervisors will determine the assignments. Reports directly to the Manufacturing Engineer Group Leader of assigned area.


JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):

  • Expected to lead and organize process related projects in the Molding Department.
  • Capable of interacting with technical trades, colleagues from other engineering departments, external suppliers, vendors, contractors, original equipment manufacturers, and managerial individuals.
  • Capable of working with part designers to ensure new parts can be molded to meet quality and efficiency expectations.
  • Responsible for reviewing the capacity of the Molding Department and balancing the workload across work centers.
  • Implement and support environmental, health, and safety projects to improve the working environment.
  • Expected to keep manufacturing equipment in the Molding Department current by working with maintenance and original equipment manufacturers.
  • Typical assignments may include but are not limited to:
    • Process improvements
    • Evaluating the Molding Department to determine the required equipment for meeting manufacturing requirements.
    • Effective and efficient layout of the Molding Department.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s Strategy.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology & 5+ years of related experience or, associate’s degree in related field & 7+ years of related experience or, 15+ years of related experience
• Read and understand mechanical prints
• Use basic hand and power tools for assembly and analysis work
• Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point; CAD software; ability to learn SAP
• Ability to perform hands-on work.
• Ability to handle a constantly changing set of priorities
• Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience.
• Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Good verbal & written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to propose innovative solutions.
• Technically proficient in 3D CAD software, Solid Edge is preferred.
• Able to work independently and as a team player.
