This Registered Nurse in Lactation will be responsible for:- Provides comprehensive breastfeeding support to families on inpatient units and in outpatient clinics.
- Evaluates the maternal history, patient medical and clinical information and assesses patient/parent needs in order to develop and implement the most appropriate lactation plan of care.
- Applies scientific knowledge to the process of diagnosis and treatment. Instructs patients and caregivers on lactation plan.
- Serves as a resource and educator for health care providers, students, community lactation consultants and the general public.
- Develops and revises patient education materials and participates in other lactation related committees and projects.
- Supervises lactation interns and students when applicable.
- The assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for a complex patient population.
- Work in collaboration with the director, assists in the coordination of patient care services for their areas of responsibility
- Providing a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing.
- Working 20 – 40 hours per week, 10 hour shifts including one weekend per month and rotating holidays.
To qualify, you must have:- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- A minimum of 1 year of RN experience required (pediatric or NICU nursing experience preferred)
- A minimum of 1 year clinical experience in Lactation Consultant role required
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) required
