Job Summary and Qualifications
- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care for patients within the scope of practice as defined by the NH Board of Nursing, in collaboration with the physician and other members of the health care team using recognized nursing techniques and hospital-based clinical and administrative polices.
- The Registered Nurse represents the hospital both professionally and positively.
- Upon hire it will be determined and agreed upon by the employee and Director of Maternal-Child Services which area(s) the employee will be required to work.
- Performs antepartum testing to assess fetal well-being
- Is proficient with fetal monitoring interpretation and implement appropriate nursing interventions as needed
- Has knowledge and skills to provide care for the woman in all stages of labor, delivery and recovery for vaginal and cesarean birth
- Labor support includes comfort measures, positioning, and pain management techniques
- Recognize risk factors; anticipates and plans care accordingly
- Recognize and respond to obstetrical emergencies
- Serves as a qualified person to perform a medical screening in the absence of the physician
- Fetal Monitoring Certification will be obtained within 2 years of eligibility.
Post Partum
- Assesses and plans individualized care for the post partum woman and her family
- Has knowledge of lactation and how to assist and support the mother with breast feeding
- Support the mother and family with integration of the newborn into the family
- Provide the mother with education to prepare for discharge
- Recognize and respond to post partum complications and emergencies
Neonatal
- Provide assessment and care of the newborn during the transition period immediately after birth
- Incorporate daily routine care of the newborn in collaboration with the mother
- Recognize and respond to newborns at risk for complications and/or deviations from the norm, and provide nursing care in
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization in collaboration with other members of the health care team
Pediatrics
- Provide assessment and care of the pediatric patient that is age and developmentally appropriate
- Recognize and respond to pediatrics emergencies in collaboration with other members of the health care team
- Provide education and discharge planning
Gynecology
- Provide assessment and care of the post operative gynecology patient of varying ages
- Recognize and respond to post operative complications and emergencies in collaboration with other members of the health care team
- Provide education and discharge planning
QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse in NH or compact licensure
- 1 or more years of labor and delivery experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date
- Neonate Resuscitate, or Neonatal Resuscitation Program must be obtained within 1 year from hire date.
