Since its inception in 2017, Hartford Health Care’s Bone & Joint Institute (BJI) offers an unparalleled network of coordinated services for patients with musculoskeletal disorders and orthpaedic injuries. Position Description:
The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room. Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room. Provides nursing care in accordance with the objectives, policies, procedures and protocols of the hospital and AORN, ASPAN and SGNA standards. Participates in patient teaching; incorporates the needs and behavior of the patient’s specific age/cultural groups in planning and providing care. Participates in quality improvement activities.
The Bone and Joint Institute specializes in surgical interventions for orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. The care provided includes closed and open fracture repairs, tendon and ligament injury repairs, joint replacements, spine surgeries, podiatric procedures, and joint arthroscopy, among other treatments. Staff have the privilege of working in a state-of-the-art facility alongside a highly specialized and dynamic team of orthopedic surgeons, podiatrists, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
Additionally Orthopedic OR nurses have the opportunity to cross train to the scrub nurse role if desired as well as participate in interdisciplinary collaboration on research and best practices.
Qualifications
·Current active CT RN License
·Previous OR experience required (OR Novice nurses may apply to the OR Nurse Transition to Practice Program)
·BSN Preferred
·Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
·Excellent interpersonal skills
·Independent problem-solving skills
·Excellent communication skills
·CNOR certification preferred
