Location Description:

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Lenox, Iowa and often called the "Pearl of the Prairie" is where you can find small town living, focused on family and friends, with big city amenities not far from reach in Des Moines, Omaha, and Kansas City. Located in southwest Iowa, Taylor county, with a population of around 1400, the Lenox area reaches far beyond the city limits with beautiful and productive fields of corn, beans, and other croplands. Lenox holds an amazing four day Rodeo every July and is home to a beautiful 36-9 hole golf course, several fishing and boating lakes, great area hunting, a beautiful city park with swimming pool, and many picnic parks. The MFI location in Lenox produces primarily pre-cooked egg patties. Responsibilities:

Join our team as a Sanitation Supervisorand play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety in our plant operations. This position is responsible for overseeing plant cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with GMPs, Good Safety Practices, and sanitation policies and procedures. You will be a key player in maintaining our commitment to safety as a core value, ensuring uniform adherence to all food safety and quality protocols to minimize product and process variability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional sanitation team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Chemical Safety:Train employees on testing chemical concentrations and maintaining test kits. Conduct safety and educational training sessions.
  • Procedure Management:Develop, monitor, and update plant sanitation procedures and practices. Organize the sanitation crew efficiently to maximize resources.
  • Performance Reporting:Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators such as the Master Sanitation program, pre-op inspections, and visual observations.
  • Communication:Relay issues or potential issues to management promptly.
  • System Oversight:Monitor CIP and COP systems, liaising with Ecolab to ensure accuracy and functionality.
  • Audit Preparation:Assist in preparing for and participating in third-party audits.
  • Inspection:Perform visual and scientific observations of plant, equipment, and parts for cleanliness, and accompany USDA inspectors during pre-op inspections.
  • Inventory Management:Inventory and order sanitation supplies.
  • Quality Assurance:Follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality. Report any conditions or practices that may affect food safety and quality.
Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of three successful years working in sanitation in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of CIP required.
  • Knowledge of USDA and FDA guidelines and regulations.
  • Knowledge of chemicals and chemical usage.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Understanding and the ability to write SOP’s.
  • Keen awareness and enforcement of safety procedures and precautions.
