Location:
Houston Technology Center, 410 Pierce St, Houston, TX 77002, USA
Description:

During this hand’s-on FREE workshop, we’ll learn why it’s important to know how you’ll generate sales before knowing what product you’ll actually make, explore the 9 different ways that your startup can get paid, identify the 3 characteristics of customer sales activity, and discuss how to streamline your sales process by more than 45%. By developing a thoughtful sales funnel built around generating customer demand, you’ll able to reduce your cost of sales, eliminate unnecessary friction in your customer’s buying decisions, and clarify how you’ll get paid by your customers.

If you spent 3 months or more attempting to establish an effective sales funnel, this meetup will teach you how to focus your priorities on tasks that will get you paid before you build your product and save you from wasting money on sales steps that don’t directly improve your customer conversion rates.

GET TIPS ON CREATING A BUSINESS PLAN
Location:
Fort Bend County Library - Sienna Branch, 8411 Sienna Springs Dr, Missouri City, TX 77459, USA
Description:
Anyone who is considering starting a new business is encouraged to attend a hands-on workshop on how to create a business plan at Fort Bend County Libraries' Sienna Branch Library on Saturday, August 11, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8411 Sienna Springs Blvd. in Missouri City.

Having such a plan is an important asset when seeking funding for a new business. This EzyBizPlan training workshop will explain the 12 critical elements of every business plan, beginning with creating a customized model, assessing the competitive quality of that model, and converting worksheet data into a professional business plan that financial lenders will appreciate. The workshop includes workbooks and hands-on assistance for creating a real and relevant outline that can be used to launch a business.

The workshop is presented by SCORE mentor Mathew Fitzgerald, who began his career as a CPA with Ernst & Young before moving into executive-finance roles with Baker Hughes, BJ Services Co., Veritas DGC, and Grant Prideco Inc. He has started several different business ventures, including a restaurant, real-estate rentals, and a cell-phone retail store. He has also served on the Board of Directors for two energy companies.

This program is presented in partnership with SCORE, the non-profit mentoring arm of the U.S. Small Business Administration. Those attending this program will learn about resources that are available through SCORE and how to draw on the experience of other SCORE members.

The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required. For more information, call the Sienna Branch Library at 281-238-2900 or the library system's Communications Office at 281-633-4734.

The transition from military to civilian life can be difficult. The biggest obstacle to overcome is finding that great career launch pad. As a military veteran, you already stand out in the crowd as a resource that is sought by companies who value excellence in their personnel. At the Warrior For Life Luncheon, you get to meet those employers, one on one.

Designed to create direct contact between veterans and local employers, Warrior For Life provides a forum for veterans to get hired. Hosted once a month at Masraff's in the Galleria, veterans have a chance to market themselves in a professional, yet personal environment.

For veterans:

We strongly encourage you to attend the Veteran Transition Workshop hosted by our friends at the Travis Manion Foundation the day prior. This event will give you all the tools you need to excel at Warrior for Life. *While spouses are welcome at Warrior for Life, the Veteran Transition Workshop is for veterans only.

Promptly arrive at 11:00 a.m. This is 30 minutes earlier than employers in order to prepare for the event.
There is plenty of free parking.

You need to have a proper and up-to-date resume/CV.

The dress code is business professional. Suit and tie for men, business suit for women. If you need professional attire for the event, see the following links for men and women.

This is a professional lunch for you to talk with employers and network. Please do not bring guests or family members. Spouses are welcome (please RSVP).

If you RSVP, you need to attend. If you cannot make the luncheon, it is important that you email communications@lonestarveterans.org or call (281)744-7972 by 10:00 AM the day prior to the luncheon. This allows space for those veterans on the wait list.

What is the cost of the luncheon?

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

WARRIOR FOR LIFE LUNCHEON - Network, Recruit, Hire
Location:
Masraff's, 1753 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056, USA
Description:

$5 for veterans; $35 for employers. If you are an employer who is also a veteran, the cost is still $35 (sorry!).

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
communications@lonestarveterans.org or call 281-744-7972

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, a printed ticket is not necessary to bring with you.

WARRIOR FOR LIFE LUNCHEON - Network, Recruit, Hire
Location:
Masraff's, 1753 Post Oak Blvd, Houston, TX 77056, USA
Description:

$5 for veterans; $35 for employers. If you are an employer who is also a veteran, the cost is still $35 (sorry!).

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
communications@lonestarveterans.org or call 281-744-7972

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
No, a printed ticket is not necessary to bring with you.
