Job Duties:

  • Review production sheets and menus to determine the type and quantity of foods to prepare.
  • Follow recipes and guidelines to prepare assigned menu items.
  • Arrange and present food attractively and appetizingly.
  • Test food by tasting, smelling, and using a thermometer to ensure it meets health and recipe standards.
  • Prepare various menu items (vegetables, fish, meat, casseroles, soups, etc.) using kitchen equipment like kettles, ovens, and fryers.
  • Follow instructions for batch cooling to support smooth operations in the tray line, dining room, and service areas.
  • Monitor food quality, including temperature and accuracy.
  • Set up and place food items for resident trays and other service areas.
  • Verify menus and quantities using established forms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef.
  • Training will be provided to ensure safe equipment use.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in cooking or food preparation. Experience in short-order and breakfast cooking is a plus.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as slicers, slow cookers and proper knife handling.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A two-year degree in culinary arts, hotel/restaurant management, or a related field is a bonus.
