What part will you play The Accounting Manager will be a key member of the Canada accounting team and will be responsible for managing and supporting the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. The Accounting Manager administers the payroll process, incl. commissions calculations, oversees month-end close, including the monthly billing process with PMs, the PoC process, ensures accurate and timely financial and sales reporting, and oversees the work of other members of the team to drive required results.Location: Must live in the Mississauga, ON, Canada area.What will you be doing Oversee and manage the month end close processManage all general ledger accounting, including accurate asset tracking, inventory control, and preparing required analysis and reconciliationsPrepare monthly journal entries and review the work of senior accountants, ensuring timely and accurate close of the general ledgerCashflow management, including payment run reviews and approvals along with required weekly reportingPrepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports to ensure accuracy and completeness, along with analyzing and explaining variancesAssist with the preparation of forecasts and budgetsManage the year-end close processManage the preparation, filing, and payment of monthly sales tax, corporate tax, and other statutory filingsAdminister and manage bi-weekly payroll in conjunction with corporate team, including monthly commissions calculations and related entriesAssist with internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanationsAssess current practices, policies, and procedures and identify and execute the necessary recommendations for improvementsPerform other ad hoc responsibilities and projects as directed by managementWhat do we require from you Knowledge & Skill Requirements:A thorough understanding of GAAP accounting principles and standards, preferably IFRS and/or US GAAPStrong attention to detail is critical to successAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify the root cause of problems, propose solutions to corrective actionsAble to convey complex financial information clearly, both verbally and in writingMust maintain high ethical standards, meet confidentiality requirements, to ensure the security and privacy of both financial and personal dataProficient in using accounting software, spreadsheets, and financial management toolsProficient experience with Microsoft Excel: advanced spreadsheet skills required- including but not limited to Pivot Tables, V-lookup, and working with large and complex datasets. Experience working with SQL, VBA, or Business Intelligence (BI) tools is considered an assetExperience with ERP system environmentResults driven: A strong, driven but flexible, energetic, resourceful and hands-on individual with a strong service orientation, someone who commits herself/himself fully to the job and who is dedicated to developing and delivering outstanding workA highly motivated team player who contributes to an atmosphere in which people work together, enthusiastically, and effectively, in producing outstanding resultsAn ambitious and entrepreneurial character that thrives in fast-paced environments and has a hands-on attitude with an ability to transform ideas into reality through consensus and executionEducation/Certification/License Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field requiredPreferred Certifications:Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) or working towards/near completionWork Experience:5 - 8 years’ relevant experience, preferably supervising others, or strong, experienced senior ready to take the next step in career
