ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Oversee all aspects of the fleet maintenance function while establishing and maintaining a safe work environment and working conditions for employees. Update all specifications when equipment changes are necessary in collaboration with RFM and Corporate Fleet team.• Manage purchasing, warranties, capital improvement requests, and the parts department inventory levels for all fleet needs to ensure proper department functioning. Purchase fuel and shop equipment, file warranty claims and recover warranty dollars, and develop the yearly budget.• Work with drivers to enable them to operate specialized equipment properly, and provide assistance as needed when troubles develop on the road. Find qualified service to repair downed vehicles and obtain competitive bids for repairs.• Comply with OSHA, DOT, and Tax commission regulations.• Produce weekly, period, and yearly reports along with daily OOS reports.• Other duties as assigned by manager.SUPERVISION:• Direct: Union and/or non-union technicians.RELATIONSHIPS• Internal: Transportation leaders and coworkers; Technicians, Warehouse leaders; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)• External: CustomersWORK ENVIRONMENT• May spend a portion of time on the road in a truck exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars.
