Maintains the plant’s mechanical, diesel, electrical, and electronic equipment. Welds to repair and fabricate components essential to production processes. Maintains andrepair’sstructure, piping, fixtures and equipment. Performs predictive and preventive maintenance. Performs other duties of a similar nature as may be required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESParticipate in safety programsworking to repair and maintain air compressors, dryers, trucks, forklifts and pallet jacks. Assists with installation of new equipment.Maintain all job site equipment in a good, clean, orderly condition and reports all deficiencies to supervisorMaintains and cleans equipment, performs required inspections, completes paperwork, and assumes accountabilityDismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists,Follow OSHA and HAZMAT rules and regulationsTakes proactive steps to make improvements to plant equipment and processes.Follows standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to supervision as necessary.Recommends improvements in maintenance methods, working to reduce cost of replacement/repair whenever possibleLubricate & clean partsTest and troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs and discuss with Head Mechanic for approval and repair as neededAbility to operate welder, cutting torch, electrical/power and manual hand tools for repairs.Be able to fix minor electrical problemsThis position will require overtime during planned maintenance outages and during plant outages.Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, pre-job briefings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.QualificationsUnderstand basic electrical and hydraulic schematicsProperly use tools like electrical meters, hydraulic gauges, and lifting equipmentCapable of lifting 50 poundsValidDriverslicense and clean driving recordWelding/fabrication experienceMust know how to safely work around and with heavy equipment/objectAble to measure accurately with calipers, feeler gauges, and tape measuresBe able to work 40+hours per weekExperience:Relevant:3 years of industrial maintenance experience (Preferred)Manufacturing environment: 3 years (Preferred)Forklift Driving: 3 years (Preferred)Repairing Forklifts weighing 5,000lbs-80,000lbsRepaired Heavy Diesel EquipmentWelding: 3 years (Preferred)Ability to arc welding and cutting torch experienceService Tech: 3 years (Preferred)Ability to read simple electrical / mechanical drawingsCommunicates effectivelyPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSMust be able to work in extreme temperatures and will be exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, confined spaces, elevated areas, dirtMust be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. occasionally*Must be able to sit for extended periodsMust be able to work on feet for extended periods*Must be capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc. in the performance of job duties* *All employees are required to comply with the Substance Abuse policy, which includes but is not limited to a post-offer drug screen and physical examination*Takes the initiative to get things done.What We OfferThompson offers a variety of benefit plans and a company-matched 401K retirement planLife and Supplement LifeEmployee DiscountsPaid HolidaysCompany EventsTraining and DevelopmentCareer Advancement OpportunitiesTo learn more about this opportunity visit www.thompsonpipegroup.comThompson Pipe Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we pride ourselves on recruiting, employing, training, compensating, and promoting regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, veteran status, and other protected status as required by applicable law.
