Job Description JOB SUMMARY This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.The Special Procedures Technologist Level II (SPT II) independently provides knowledge and competence in radiologic technology, imaging, devices, and provides scrub assistance for one of the following specialty areas: Pediatric Interventional (Body, Neuro, Pain), Pediatric Cardiac Cath or Electrophysiologic Procedures. May serve as a preceptor for Special Procedures Technologists in training. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.*Directly assists the physician(s) during Pediatric Interventional Radiology (Body/Neuro/Pain), Electrophysiology and/or Pediatric Interventional Cardiology diagnostic or therapeutic imaging procedures. *Functions as an informational resource to others regarding equipment and procedures. *Operates fixed and mobile angiographic equipment including x-ray system controls, diagnostic and digital image archival and power injectors. *Performs required quality control procedures on equipment and initiates repair as necessary to maintain safe usage. *Provides scrub assistance during procedures. *Provide aid during intervention cases. (Ex. Prepping balloon, stent deployment, valve crimping and other tasks.) *Sets modality parameters on fixed and mobile angiography equipment. *Enters data such as patient demographics in imaging equipment. *Correctly archives images in Cardiac PACS and Radiology PACS *General understanding of imaging techniques, protocols and equipment functions. *Operates and trouble-shoots ancillary equipment. General understanding of needed supplies, measurement, archival.Provides intermediate understanding on ancillary and Cath Angio equipment (Angio Jet, Volcano, U/S, IVUS) used in services.*Performs routine cleaning of procedural area and equipment. *Utilizes time efficiently, able to prioritize work, asks for reassignment when free. *Stock assigned room with appropriate supplies needed for procedures. *Provides intermediate knowledge on service specific supplies (wire, sheaths and catheters). *Provides intermediate knowledge on sterile technique. *Precept in services that have been signed off. *Verifies & completes all documentation to include EPIC and Inventory systems.Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.*Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology school. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred. *Experience: Minimum One (1) to three (3) years of Specialty (IR, Cath, or EP experience). *License/Certifications: -BLS (Basic Life Support). -ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) within six (6) months of hire. -RTF (California State Fluoroscopic Permit), new hires without certification are required to obtain certification within three (3) months of hiring date, written exceptions will be considered in 30-day increments at the discretion of the Director. -CRT (Certified by the State of California Department of Health Services in Diagnostic)Radiology -ARRT RTR (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification Reg. Tech-Radiography) KNOWLEDGE These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education or licensure/certification.*Intermediate understanding of principles of radiation in relation to imaging techniques. *Intermediate understanding of most supplies for procedures trained in and proper usage. *Intermediate Understanding of the safety requirements of the basic procedures. Learning the safety requirement of more complex procedures. *Intermediate understanding of the anatomy and physiology in relation to the procedures performed. *Intermediate understanding of procedure indications, disease processes involved and treatment options. *Demonstrate intermediate communications skills *Ability to explain a basic procedure to the appropriate audience. *Ability and knowledge to assess the specific age needs of the patients. *Need to confirm procedure assessment with more experienced Tech. *With coaching, start to build a trusting and collaborative relationships with colleagues and patients. *Exemplifies the principles of PCARES to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers. *Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Sectra PACS (IR Only), Merge-Cardiovascular PACS (Cath/EP only), Epic, ARC Helios Supply System, and iRcoder. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
