We partner with our Nurses at HCA HealthONE Presbyterian St. Luke's!Job Summary and QualificationsAs a Vascular Access Team (VAT) RN you will apply advanced knowledge of the vascular system, vascular access devices (VADs), and VAD insertion techniques to establish intravenous access for pediatric and adult patients. Join us in our efforts to better our community!Here is some of what you can expect from being a VAT Team Registered Nurse with us:As the VAT RN you will critically assesses each patient’s medical history, present health status, and proposed course of treatment to ensure the appropriate VAD is selected.You will work collaboratively with ordering providers to clarify vascular access needs, when questions arise. You will perform a physical examination of the insertion site, prior to VAD placement.You will utilize expert-level vascular ultrasound/sonography skills and aseptic or sterile techniques to insert VADs at the bedside or in procedural areas. You will, during insertion of advanced lines such as peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), you will monitor the patient’s electrocardiograph readings for signs of device malposition or procedure intolerance. You will, as applicable following device placement, select the appropriate method of imaging to verify tip placement, interprets imaging results in compliance with the VAT RN scope of practice, and issues nursing orders for line use. You will also provide consultation services for malfunctioning VADs, as well as VAD use and maintenance education to staff and patients. You will document all insertion and troubleshooting activities per the organization’s policies and procedures. You will also enters charges in the hospital’s documentation system to ensure appropriate billing of devices and VAT procedures. You will be responsible for VAD-related core measures affecting quality, patient safety, and reimbursement, including Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections (CLABSIs).What qualifications you will need:Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multi-state Registered Nurse license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.ACLS and PALS required within the first 6 months of hire. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.Two years bedside clinical RN experience required. Two years as a VAT RN desired.Experience with ultrasound is preferred. Must demonstrate proficiency in ultrasound guided vascular access techniques within 6 months of hire.
