The lactation consultant takes patient histories, performs breast and feeding evaluations, develops treatment plans, and makes appropriate referrals as indicated. Participates in the Mom Baby monthly staff Meetings. Works cohesively with NICU, Mom/Baby and Labor & Delivery staff to promote a consistent lactation program, both inpatient and outpatient services and ensure continuity of care for ongoing breastfeeding success.
