The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) will be an integral member of the care delivery team, including Hospitalist Physicians and APPs as well as Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (PCCM) Physicians, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy. The APP will be the overnight provider caring for the MICU patients directly ensuring the appropriate patient care, documentation, and continue progression of care with reviewing and interpreting lab and imaging studies, and bedside rounding with RNs and RTs, and performing ICU procedures including central lines and arterial lines and collaborating with the on-call intensivist and hospitalist. The APP will partner with the Hospitalist Nocturnist to take new ICU admissions and can facilitate early consultations with PCCM, as well as coordinating patient transfers to higher level of care facilities as needed. The APP will also perform night bedside rounds on PCU patients, and partner with Nursing Supervisor to evaluate patients who may be eligible to stepdown out of PCU level of care. This position works in collaboration with nursing leadership to foster and influence competency management, clinical nursing education, professional role development, policy standardization, collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry, transition to practice and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCare colleagues. The practitioner is an essential member of the nursing leadership team who promotes the alignment of regional NPD and practice excellence with the HHC system as a whole.Qualifications BSN required; enrollment in a Master’s program with degree completion within two years of hire date preferred.Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience with at least 1 year of experience in an acute care environment.Experience as a preceptor.
