Unlock your potential!Job Summary and QualificationsAs a pharmacy practice resident, you will fulfill the requirements of the PGY-1 Residency Program at HCA Florida Fort Walton –Destin Hospital, providing clinical services, staffing services, on-call services, and drug information to patients, physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists as a primary responsibility. Completes a longitudinal research project leading to the development of a manuscript for publication and assists with additional projects, along with the primary longitudinal project, that leads to formal presentations at the regional residency conference and national pharmacy associations meetings and assists with educating pharmacy students from colleges of pharmacy.RESIDENT RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO):Provide clinical pharmacy services, promoting safe and rational use of medications to improve patient outcomesCoordinate the delivery of clinical pharmaceutical care to assigned areasAssist in the training and professional development of staff pharmacists, pharmacy students, technicians, and nursing staffProvide pharmaceutical care through appropriate, safe, and cost-effective drug therapy protocol/policiesMaintain strong knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations and dispense medications accordinglyConsult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient reactions, errors, and complaintsDetermine and consult on possible drug interactionsAssist in the supervision and training of pharmacy technician personnelParticipate in drug utilization reviewAssist with quality improvement initiatives, inventory, and ordering of pharmaceuticalsMonitor, record, and communicate as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systemsUtilize knowledge of age-specific needs of patients in the performance of duties and responsibilitiesFollow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as requiredParticipate in educational activities such as pharmacy student case conferences, student journal clubs, and other student development projects.Perform mentored residency research and present findings in the form of a poster and/or formal presentation at national and regional pharmacy organizational meetingsSupports and adheres to all company and Center policies and procedures.Supports and adheres to the HCA Code of Conduct, related Ethics and Compliance policies, and HIPAA requirements.Supports and adheres to personnel policies and programs that specify privileges and responsibilities of employment, including compliance with an adverse incident reporting system, quality improvement program, patient safety initiatives, and risk management program.Displays willingness to speak up about safety issues or change practices to enhance safety; asks for help when needed; enhances teamwork; follows the safety literature/policiesEXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:Must hold a graduate degree from an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program and have a state license to practice in Florida or be eligible to attain a Florida license before starting the pharmacy residency program.
