About the Job:
Under the direction of the Director, supervises and coordinates the work activities of the professional and technical staffOrganizes and coordinates the activities of the department through the appropriate assignment of responsibilities, delegation of authority, and overall direction of workflow processes. Provides direction and motivation to assigned personnelMonitors and evaluates the activities of the department personnel; provides management coaching, guidance, and on-the-job training and retraining, as necessary, to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Initiates progressive disciplinary action as neededMonitors and evaluates systems and processes. Initiates changes and improvements, as necessary, to ensure operational efficiency. Evaluates outcome of changes and expected improvementsMonitors the quality of patient care to ensure the safety of the patient is maintained during all procedures and safety standards are adhered toEnsures quality assurance standards are followed. Ensures quality control tests are performed as required. Ensures department compliance to the Joint Commission and/or all applicable governmental agenciesEnsures all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. Reports equipment problems to department manager or service personnel as requiredCommunicates with administration, medical staff, employees, and other departments to coordinate efforts, meet special needs, and address problems or concerns. Attends department meetingsEstablishes quality improvement, fiscal productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives in conjunction with upper managementIf functioning with telemetry patients, demonstrates technical competencyin gathering and communicating objective data such as EKG interpretation, advanced assessment and medication administrationConducts nurse leader rounds daily and physician rounds as neededAssures assignments are appropriate to patient acuity and skill level of nursing personnelActs as a clinical resource person to staff to complete tasks assigned timelyFunctions as a direct care giver with patient assignment as neededDemonstrates ability to function as a department director in their absenceDemonstrates ability to function as a house supervisor as needed
Job Requirements:
FL RN LicenseBLS and ACLS CertificationsMinimum Two (2) years' experience in an acute care setting
