The position is responsible for management of plant cleaning, sanitation, and compliance with GMP's, Good Safety Practices, sanitation policies and procedures. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.We have the honor and responsibility of working in food – a critical infrastructure industry during this time of global crisis. This is a great opportunity for those who are now available due to hours being cut at their regular job or being sent home from college temporarily.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for the sanitation of the plant, interior and exterior.Monitor, create and update as needed all plant sanitation procedures and practices.Responsible for the sanitation and janitorial staff activities.Train employees on the proper method to test chemical concentrations as well as maintain chemical concentration test kits.Organize sanitation crew in an efficient and effective manner to maximize resources. Supervises employees by scheduling work assignments, hiring, terminating, and evaluating performance.Monitor and assist sanitation employees as they clean equipment to ensure proper sanitation practices and chemical safety. Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators, ie. Master Sanitation program, Pre-op inspection and Visual observation. Communicate issues or potential issues to management.Monitor CIP and COP systems; liaison with Ecolab to ensure systems are functioning and accurate.Assist in third party audit preparation and auditing process.Lead cross-functional Sanitation team.Perform visual and scientific observation of plant, equipment and parts for cleanliness. Accompany USDA inspector during pre-op inspections.Conduct safety and educational training.Inventory and order sanitation supplies.Assumes personal responsibility to ensure safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.Ensures regulatory compliance at all times.Perform other duties as assigned.Actively lead and/or participate in plant safety team.#firstinpeople Qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:Minimum of three successful years working in sanitation in the food industry.Knowledge of CIP required.Understanding and the ability to write SSOP’s.Keen awareness and enforcement of safety procedures and precautions.Knowledge of USDA and FDA guidelines and regulations.Experience working with USDA is a plus. Knowledge of chemicals and chemical usage.Demonstrated leadership skills.Ability to communicate both verbal and written.Working computer knowledge specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
