Appendix J tests the leak tightness of containment. Local Leak Rate Test (LLRTs) for valves and mechanical penetrations and the ILRT is a once every 15-year test that pressurizes all of containment. With both programs, the most important aspect is to find and detect degradation so that it can be corrected. This maintains the plant at a high level of equipment and system reliability and will ensure the health and safety of the public.
