As part of the Labor & Delivery Team, you will be required to plan, assess, implement, and evaluate ongoing delivery of care for Labor and Anti and Post-Partum patients while assisting management/charge nurse with responsibilities as needed. Be part of an organization that invests in you, submit your application and help us raise the bar in patient care!You will demonstrate ability to perform maternal and fetal assessment and provides appropriate interventions.As a member of our team, you will monitor OB/anesthesia/analgesia and use appropriate interventions for OB pain management.Some key responsibilities for you in this role will be to circulate for and recover C-Sections, demonstrate support for Lactation Services and initiate and document patent teaching.Members of our team actively participate in the orientation of new personnel and have willingness to identify or assume activities relative to the developmental needs of unit and the nursing department.What will you do in this role:Places the mother on the fetal monitor and correctly interpret the stripResponds appropriately to non-reassuring fetal monitor tracingsPerforms vaginal exams and monitors labor activity accuratelyNotifies physician promptly of non-reassuring assessmentsTitrates Pitocin and monitors patient for adverse reactionsPerforms and interprets stress and non-stress testsCompletes OB/Nursery and Labor and Delivery Orientation ChecklistsCompletes the following competencies: External Fetal Monitoring, Labor Specific, Sterile Vaginal Exam, Checking Reflexes, Oximeter Application.Administers magnesium sulfate for preterm labor patients and pre-eclamptic patients.Assists anesthesiologists with epidural placement; recognizes and responds appropriately to epidural complicationsRecovers C-SectionsCirculates for C-SectionsPerforms and directs nursing procedures, prescribed treatments, based on knowledge of principles and practice of Registered Nurse.Acts as a preceptorAccurate medication administration according to hospital policyObserves and records patient reactions to medication, I.V. therapy, blood transfusion, and treatment.Actively participates in the orientation of new personnel.What qualifications you will need:Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start dateBasic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start dateNeonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 60 months of employment start dateRegistered NurseAssociate degree, or Bachelor's DegreeTerre Haute Regional Hospital has provided quality healthcare services since 1882.
