This individual possesses the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.About the Program:The eligible candidate will be hired as an employee and compensated a training wage while in attendance at EMT Academy at Abbott EMS-Decatur. The Academy is a rigorous eight-week program which qualifies the employee to take the EMT National Registry and local area protocols exam. There is no cost for the class and all books, tuition, fees and uniforms will be paid by Abbott EMS Decatur. The class schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.
