Entity: Production & OperationsJob Family Group: Operations GroupJob Description: The Whiting Refinery in Whiting, Indiana, is currently looking for a Maintenance Supervisor. This role will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance work. This is accomplished through the coordination of several resources including peers, craftsmen, contractors and operations staff. This role works closely with peers to maintain and improve process unit mechanical availability across the entire refinery and provides services to non-operating areas.This position was created to facilitate the planning and execution of routine and/or turnaround maintenance in the refinery. This includes coordination of maintenance activities with the Planning and Scheduling Organization, as well as Operations personnel. The selected candidate will be accountable for training and performance of the craftsmen reporting to the team. Also including handling the performance and efficiency of any contractors that perform work in association with the Maintenance Supervisor’s assigned work. This includes the development of safe work practices for the crafts and standard maintenance procedures that the crafts will use.Key Accountabilities:Achieves and adheres to HSSE goals and policiesPrepare and conduct safety meetings and act promptly on safety issues.Manages team’s wellbeing and performance (directs, appraises, counsels, and develops/ coach’s new employees) for an average 10-person crew.Perform maintenance work in a safe, efficient and effective manner according to plan and for ensuring quality of work performed.Responsible for job preparation activities, including assignment of craftsmen to jobs, reviewing scope of work, identifying and communicating changes to plan, verifying availability of materials and tools, and confirming schedule viability.Manages team’s adherence and improvement of established work methods and work processesEnsure job package documentation is accurate and that complete data is captured regarding repair work, equipment data, changes to plan, QA/QC requirements, and recommendations for future work.Requirements:High school degree or equivalent required.5+ years of experience in a heavy industrial setting OR 3 years of experience in a heavy industrial setting and a BS in a relevant field/Journeyman status.Previous leadership experience in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.Good Knowledge of Pipefitter, Boilermaker, or Millwright work.2 years of supervision experience in Union craft environment.Preferred:Journeyman Pipefitter, Boilermaker, or Millwright experienceWhy Join Our Team At bp, we provide an excellent working environment and employee benefits such as a great work-life balance, tremendous learning and development opportunities to craft your career path, life and health insurance, medical care package and many others.We support our people to learn and grow in a diverse and exciting environment.
