Job Description SummaryThe Cancer Registrar, under general supervision and according to established objectives and procedures, codes and abstracts cancer data, follows-up cancer patients and performs long and short-term audits. Enters all follow-up information into the METRIQ Computer software.Assists with the Hospitals Organization of Cancer Program activitiesArrange and coordinate weekly Tumor Boards. Compiles reports on incidence of cancer for internal agencies using the METRIQ database and performs studies as requested. Maintains a Request Log documenting studies.Participates in research data collection as determined by the Cancer Committee and prepares statistical reports and analysis as requested. Provides data on cancer patient population and related statistics for hospital planning and administration as requested.Remains abreast of development in the field of Cancer Registry by pursuing a program of self-development. Participates in educational activities by the National Cancer Registrar’s Association and Cancer Registrars Association of New England.Develops, implements and revises policies and procedures of Cancer Registry. Ensures policies and procedures are in compliance with Massachusetts State Cancer Registry.
