At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients, with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department, there are 45 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 31 general and specialized pharmacy residents. The Clinical Pharmacist II in Neurology provides clinical pharmacy services for the patients on Zayed 12 including the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, Brain Rescue Unit, and Neuro IMC beds serving as the drug expert helping to manage the complex pharmacotherapy regimen of each patient. The clinical pharmacist actively manages and adjusts medication therapies via drug therapy management agreements with prescribers and helps manage drug costs by ensuring formulary and stewardship guidelines are followed. Responsibilities for the position include: comprehensive medication management, interdisciplinary decision making, emergency code response, care coordination, education, policy/procedure development, and research activities.
