About the unitThe Adult Nephrology (AN) unit is made up of inpatient dialysis units at both the Butterworth Campus and the Blodgett Campus of Corewell Health. At Butterworth there are 8 patient bays, and Blodgett has 5 patient bays. The AN team focuses on patient care for those who may have either an acute kidney injury or end state renal disease, that require dialysis support during a hospital stay. Dialysis nurses care for patients at both campuses either in the AN unit or at the bedside depending on the acuity level of the patient. Adult Nephrology is a specialized unit, where staff have gained expertise in dialysis and vascular accesses by becoming certified in nephrology nursing or technician care. Experienced healthcare professionals are required to understand and assess patient conditions and reactions to dialysis. About this unitThe Corewell Health Butterworth OR is a level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital. About the unit4 West is a 32 bed medical surgical unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population on 4 West provides its employees the opportunity to learn about a variety of different conditions consisting of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, sepsis, cellulitis, kidney failure, and hyperglycemia. In Butterworth hospital it is common to see high acuity patients which provides the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as patient assessments, IV/urinary catheter/NG tube placement, rapid decline in patient condition, Endotool, etc. 4 West is a well-established team that works collaboratively and functions exceptionally well. This collaboration is not only experienced between RNs or technicians but also the interdisciplinary team on the unit which includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Job DescriptionAbout the unit5 Center is an 18 bed Adult Blood and Marrow Transplant unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of those with oncology diagnoses who are being admitted for their stem cell transplant or readmitted for transplant complications. The unit also consists of patients with oncology diagnosis and those getting specialized immunotherapy treatments. Specializing in transplant care, running, and maintaining central lines, administering chemotherapy treatments, managing high acuity patients, and providing oncology education to its patients are a couple of the main responsibilities for our nursing staff. Longer stays for patients on this unit are common, allowing the team on 5 Center to build meaningful relationships with the patient and their family. Although this is a specialized unit there is still much to learn due to the variety in patient conditions in addition to their cancer. About this unitThe Rehab Unit has 42 beds and is located at Blodgett Hospital. Team members enjoy working on the unit as you can become an expert in so many areas since we care for a wide variety of diagnoses. Some of the patients we care for are stroke, lung and heart transplant, bone marrow transplant patients as well as ortho trauma, limb loss, brain injury and more. We often get to form great relationships with our patients and see them progress in a positive way. About the unitThe Neuro Critical Care Unit is a 14 bed Intensive care in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth hospital.The Neuro ICU is part of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at the Medical Center, and it is West Michigan’s largest stroke center. We specialize in the care of patients with stroke or other neurological conditions. These conditions include Hemorrhagic stroke, Ischemic stroke, seizures, and Hydrocephalus with critical care needs. Our nurses are part of a collaborative team and work alongside our nurse techs, intensivists, APPs, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, chaplains, and secretaries to provide specialized care to everyone. This team of nurses has worked to develop a culture of collaboration, kindness, teamwork, and learning. About the unit 4 Center OB Special Care is a specialty within the world of Obstetrics care. 4 Center providers expert individualized care for patients with high-risk pregnancies and pregnancy- related conditions, as well as postpartum care. Our most common diagnosis includes premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor or contractions, preeclampsia/hypertension, cervical shortening, vaginal bleeding, hyperemesis, and diabetes care. About the unit4 North is a 33-bed unit at Butterworth Hospital specializing in orthopedic, trauma and burn care. Our team works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary group of professionals including nursing, physicians, APPs, rehab therapists, and care managers to provide high quality, comprehensive care to our patients. About the unit Our 20 bed High Risk Postpartum / Women’s Health unit is located on 7 Center at Butterworth hospital. We provide couplet care, where we care for both mom and baby together. Two thirds of our patient population is typically related to diabetes management, complications due to high blood pressure, Covid 19, and more. We care for newborns that have issues with feeding, blood sugar management, and high bilirubin levels. About the unitOur 11th Floor at Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital is a newly created 12-bed Pediatric Medical/Psychiatric Unit. This brand-new unit is designed to provide services to patients that need medical and psychiatric care. On this unit we will provide care for our patients with an interdisciplinary team including psychiatrist, psychologist, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, social work, chaplains, behavioral health nurses and behavioral health technicians. About the unit5 South is a 30 bed Oncology unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of those with oncology diagnoses and a surgical population of head and neck cancers. Running central lines, administering chemotherapy treatments, and providing oncology education to its patients. Longer stays for patients on this unit are common, giving the team at 5 South the chance to build relationships with the patient and their family. Although this is a specialized unit there is still much to learn due to the variety in patient conditions in addition to their cancer. Staff are often drawn to 3D for the variety of patients and skills utilized. Our team members become competent in caring for a large array of both medical patients and the occasional surgical patients. Specifically, our team is known as being experts in stroke care, sickle cell care, managing tube feedings, and the care of wounds. Some of the patient types we routinely see are respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, diabetic care, septic shock, GI bleed and other acute GI illnesses, sickle cell crisis, pancreatitis, and psychiatric care. This unit’s primary specialty is psychiatric and substance abuse disorder patients. The average length of stay is 7-10 days. Corewell Health is offering up to $10,000 as a sign on bonus for this opportunity!About the unitMedical Oncology is an inpatient unit 30-bed unit with the capabilities to go to 36 beds. We specialize in the treatment of patients with hematological and oncological illness with the additional capacity to care for 24 cardiac telemetry patients.Our full-time RNs are chemo certified and we support part-time and PRN RNs in becoming chemo certified as well. Working with oncology patients will provide you with an incredible amount of learning opportunities including working with chemotherapy, learning about radiation therapy, end of life care, and assisting with some unique bedside procedures to name a few.Our care traverses the initial diagnosis through cure or palliation.
