About the unitGerber ICU is 11 beds, 2 of those are observation beds, 9 are inpatient beds. The ICU is going to be refreshed with new paint, flooring, and artwork. It is a mixed unit, so Med/Surg and ICU patients are both present. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, wound, and VICU. Coming soon to Gerber is telemedical palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general surgery, and orthopedic surgery, care management, medical social workers all on site. About the Practice Greenville Family Medicine & Residency is a busy fast paced clinic focused on utilizing teamwork and communication to provide compassionate care to the patients of our community. In our practice we have six family medicine providers, nine resident providers, and offer additional on sight resources for patients such as a clinical pharmacist, care manager, social worker and population health nurse. Maintains responsibility for preparation of the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, making appropriateresponses as needed.Provides sterile instruments and supplies during the surgical procedure.Performs surgical sponge, needle and instrument counts.Prepares case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments and medications/solutions for each surgical case.Assists in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintains a protective position throughout the case.Creates and maintains a sterile and safe environment.Takes an active role in preference card building and management through communication with surgeons and EMIsSuggests instrument set changes to EMI and works with SPD identifying instrument sets that need to be worked on.Engages with surgeons to make suggestions regarding instrument sets (i.e. streamlining sets by removing instruments, combining sets, adding instruments that are always opened separately, etc)Actively engages in case costing by talking with surgeons regarding product usage, connects with EMIs to make cost savings suggestions, makes suggestions on how to eliminate waste on casesQualificationsRequires Associate's Degree or completion of Accredited Surgical Tech Program or equivalent years of experiencePreferred - Surgical Technologist experience (clinical rotations do count asexperience)Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Required within 90 daysSurgical Tech Certification is preferredHow Corewell Health cares for youComprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health, and work/life balance goals.
