About the unit4 West is a 32 bed medical surgical unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population on 4 West provides its employees the opportunity to learn about a variety of different conditions consisting of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, sepsis, cellulitis, kidney failure, and hyperglycemia. About the unit4 West is a 32 bed medical surgical unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population on 4 West provides its employees the opportunity to learn about a variety of different conditions consisting of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, sepsis, cellulitis, kidney failure, and hyperglycemia. In Butterworth hospital it is common to see high acuity patients which provides the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as patient assessments, IV/urinary catheter/NG tube placement, rapid decline in patient condition, Endotool, etc. 4 West is a well-established team that works collaboratively and functions exceptionally well. This collaboration is not only experienced between RNs or technicians but also the interdisciplinary team on the unit which includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. In this role you will be instrumental in the care of general neurology and neurosurgical patients. Our neurosurgical patients are highly complex. We care for spine surgery patients, patients who have undergone craniotomy and craniectomy for brain tumor resection, removal or debulking and elective aneurysm interventions. We specialize in the treatment of patients with hematological and oncological illness with the additional capacity to care for 24 cardiac telemetry patients.Our full-time RNs are chemo certified and we support part-time and PRN RNs in becoming chemo certified as well.
