We are excited to be offering a new Weekend Only Program for RNs!Eligibility:RNs in inpatient nursing settings with 24/7 scheduling are included.0.9 FTE would work two 12-hour shifts on the weekend and one additional shift during the week.Compensation:RNs will receive an additional $10 per hour plus their base pay.If the RN is a full-time (3) 12s a week RN, the stipend will apply to the two shifts on the weekend and not on the third weekday shift. This $10 per hour will be combined with shift differentials as well as other special codes.Scheduling:RNs will be required to work 48 out of 52 weekends per calendar year. Weekends are defined as Friday and Saturday night for night shift. The RN would only work the holiday if it fell on the weekend, they will not be moved off a weekend to work on a holiday.The Prince Surgical Critical Care Unit is a 22-bed intensive care unit in the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. The surgical ICU specializes in the care of critically ill trauma and surgical patients. The trauma population includes geriatric rib fractures, traumatic brain injury, multi-trauma requiring critical care needs, and the critical care adult burn population. The surgical population includes trauma surgery, emergency general surgery, surgical oncology, and vascular surgery with critical care needs. Nurses in the surgical ICU also provide care to medical and neuro critically ill patients. Our nurses are competent in the care of patients requiring ventilator support, life-sustaining titratable medications including cardiac and sedation medications and assist with procedures such as bedside tracheostomies and central line placement. With experience and competence surgical ICU nurses can become specialty trained to care for patients requiring continuous renal replacement therapy as well as manage the care of critically ill burn patients. Nurses working in the surgical ICU gain detailed assessment skills, critical thinking behaviors, as well as developing communication skills while working in a dynamic environment. The surgical ICU is a fast-paced unit that relies on teamwork and an interdisciplinary approach with not only provider teams, but ancillary staff to deliver excellent and effective care. RN’s will have the opportunity to provide care to the critical patient on ventilators, provide titration of life-sustaining medication, cardiac and sedation medication. About the UnitThe Medical Critical Care (MCC) is a 24-bed unit that cares for a wide variety of critically ill patients. The next year for MCC is an exciting time as the unit will be going through a major expansion. The growth of West Michigan has resulted in the increased need for hospitals beds and specifically intensive care beds. A new 24-bed critical care unit is currently being built within the existing Meijer Heart Center. The 8th floor of the Meijer Heart Center once housed Ambulatory offices and conference rooms. This space will now be completely renovated to become the new MCC. The new unit will be finalized at the beginning of 2023. About the unit Our 20 bed High Risk Postpartum / Women’s Health unit is located on 7 Center at Butterworth hospital. We provide couplet care, where we care for both mom and baby together. Two thirds of our patient population is typically related to diabetes management, complications due to high blood pressure, Covid 19, and more. We care for newborns that have issues with feeding, blood sugar management, and high bilirubin levels. About the unit5 South is a 30 bed Oncology unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit specializes in the care of those with oncology diagnoses and a surgical population of head and neck cancers. Running central lines, administering chemotherapy treatments, and providing oncology education to its patients. Longer stays for patients on this unit are common, giving the team at 5 South the chance to build relationships with the patient and their family. Staff are often drawn to 3D for the variety of patients and skills utilized. Our team members become competent in caring for a large array of both medical patients and the occasional surgical patients. Specifically, our team is known as being experts in stroke care, sickle cell care, managing tube feedings, and the care of wounds. Some of the patient types we routinely see are respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, diabetic care, septic shock, GI bleed and other acute GI illnesses, sickle cell crisis, pancreatitis, and psychiatric care. About this unit Lake Drive Surgery Center has 8 operating rooms and 28 nursing unit rooms. We care for both pediatric and adult patients undergoing surgery for multiple different specialties including: eyes, ENT, plastics, breast, robotics, general, GYN, uro-GYN, fertility, colo-rectal, urology, sports medicine, total joints, spine/pain, hand, foot/ankle and vascular. About the unit4 West is a 32 bed medical surgical unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population on 4 West provides its employees the opportunity to learn about a variety of different conditions consisting of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, sepsis, cellulitis, kidney failure, and hyperglycemia. In Butterworth hospital it is common to see high acuity patients which provides the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as patient assessments, IV/urinary catheter/NG tube placement, rapid decline in patient condition, Endotool, etc. 4 West is a well-established team that works collaboratively and functions exceptionally well. This collaboration is not only experienced between RNs or technicians but also the interdisciplinary team on the unit which includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. About the unit2D Observation is a 21-bed unit at Blodgett who cares for a variety of patient populations. This team collaborates well and is proficient in delivering care in a timely manner. The observation operates as an extension of the emergency department caring for patients who are hospitalized for less than 48 hours. About this Unit6 North is a 38 bed Cardiovascular unit that specializes in caring for adult patients with Heart Failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, LVAD readmits, pulmonary hypertension and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring.Care is provided 24 hours per day 7 days a week.Individuals would want to work on this unit do to the large variety of cardiovascular and progressive care experiences that allow for a robust skill set. If they were to transfer to another unit, you would gain time management, proficiency in the management of patient with complex conditions. Some skills you can gain on this unit include, bipap, respiratory management, pulmonary hypertension treatments, management of multiple IV drips, heart failure management, telemetry monitoring. The culture of this unit is teamwork and support. Staff works closely with physicians and other healthcare providers and services to provide optimal care in the inpatient setting. One of the great things about this unit you can't find compared to other units is the strong emphasis on patient education and community resources.
