About the unitOur 11th Floor at Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital is a newly created 12-bed Pediatric Medical/Psychiatric Unit. This brand-new unit is designed to provide services to patients that need medical and psychiatric care. On this unit we will provide care for our patients with an interdisciplinary team including psychiatrist, psychologist, pediatricians, nurse practitioners, social work, chaplains, behavioral health nurses and behavioral health technicians. In this role you will be instrumental in the care of general neurology and neurosurgical patients. Our neurosurgical patients are highly complex. As a team member on 2 South, you will see a wide variety of patients. Some of those diagnoses include Orthopedic Trauma, Ortho Oncology, Hip & Spine Fractures, Spine Surgery, where the other population is Progressive Care and Med/Surg overflow. About this unit Lake Drive Surgery Center has 8 operating rooms and 28 nursing unit rooms. We care for both pediatric and adult patients undergoing surgery for multiple different specialties including: eyes, ENT, plastics, breast, robotics, general, GYN, uro-GYN, fertility, colo-rectal, urology, sports medicine, total joints, spine/pain, hand, foot/ankle and vascular. About the unit4 West is a 32 bed medical surgical unit located within Butterworth Hospital. This unit is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population on 4 West provides its employees the opportunity to learn about a variety of different conditions consisting of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, sepsis, cellulitis, kidney failure, and hyperglycemia. In Butterworth hospital it is common to see high acuity patients which provides the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as patient assessments, IV/urinary catheter/NG tube placement, rapid decline in patient condition, Endotool, etc. 4 West is a well-established team that works collaboratively and functions exceptionally well. This collaboration is not only experienced between RNs or technicians but also the interdisciplinary team on the unit which includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. About this Unit6 North is a 38 bed Cardiovascular unit that specializes in caring for adult patients with Heart Failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, LVAD readmits, pulmonary hypertension and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring.Care is provided 24 hours per day 7 days a week.Individuals would want to work on this unit do to the large variety of cardiovascular and progressive care experiences that allow for a robust skill set. If they were to transfer to another unit, you would gain time management, proficiency in the management of patient with complex conditions. Some skills you can gain on this unit include, bipap, respiratory management, pulmonary hypertension treatments, management of multiple IV drips, heart failure management, telemetry monitoring. The culture of this unit is teamwork and support. Staff works closely with physicians and other healthcare providers and services to provide optimal care in the inpatient setting. One of the great things about this unit you can't find compared to other units is the strong emphasis on patient education and community resources. About the UnitThe Medical Critical Care (MCC) is a 24-bed unit that cares for a wide variety of critically ill patients. The next year for MCC is an exciting time as the unit will be going through a major expansion. The growth of West Michigan has resulted in the increased need for hospitals beds and specifically intensive care beds. A new 24-bed critical care unit is currently being built within the existing Meijer Heart Center. The 8th floor of the Meijer Heart Center once housed Ambulatory offices and conference rooms. This space will now be completely renovated to become the new MCC. The new unit will be finalized at the beginning of 2023. Apply to learn more!About the Unit The Grand Rapids Hospitals CT team supports Butterworth Hospital, Blodgett Hospital and Lemmen Holton Cancer Center. This team of over 50 CT techs staffs both hospitals 24/7/365 and Lemmen Holton during weekday business hours. Part- and full-time team members are hired for a specific location and do not flex aside from call coverage. Resource team members are hired to flex across all 3 locations as available shifts allow. As a team member in delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups.Essential FunctionsPerforms evaluation to determine respiratory care needs, and makes appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines. Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards. Performs point of care testing as required.Performs advanced evaluation, management and therapeutic procedures (interventions) for patients requiring respiratory assistance. Assesses effectiveness of intervention and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
