The SBU Temporary Driver Mechanic performs vehicle mechanical work beginning with basic assembly and/or removal of parts, minor repairs such as replacing fuel systems, unit connections and other components. Duties increase with time and experience on the job. Most advanced work may include fabricating experimental parts and test fixtures and working from blueprints/drawings. Other responsibilities include driving test vehicles at various speeds on varying road conditions. Weekend overtime is required for this position.

The Temporary UAW Instrumentation & Electronics Technician is primarily responsible for repair, maintenance, and build-up of electronic test instrumentation associated with various vehicle testing at the Stellantis Chelsea Proving Grounds. This position will provide exposure to a broad range of electronic troubleshooting/ repair/ calibration/ builds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics, PLC’s/ industrial controls, and demonstrated trouble-shooting skills. Other duties may include general bench work (building cable harnesses, circuit assembly, test boxes), calibrating meters and sensors, network/ PC repair.
