About the unitThe 4th floor (4NS) is a cardiac progressive care unit. We have 36 beds with 30 semi-private rooms and 3 semi-private rooms, which includes 1 negative pressure room.Each patient has a telemetry monitor that they are required to wear at all times while on the unit. We take many types of patients including hemodynamically stable adults ages 18 or greater that require monitoring every four hours. The unit can take pediatric patients ages 14 or greater into a private room with a guardian present. Common diagnoses include cardiac intervention, pre-CABG, arrhythmias, blood pressure abnormalities, congestive heart failure, substance abuse, and general medical patients. The unit also takes medication drips including antiarrhythmic medications, IV nitroglycerin, heparin, non-titrating dopamine, and IV inotropic (not including levophed, neosynephrine, or labetalol). The unit does not take ventilators or heated high flow oxygen modalities. The 4th floor is a fast paced, high-energy environment that thrives on teamwork, kindness, and respect from all team members. About the unitThis unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This unit’s primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care, open-heart patients direct from the OR, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR procedure, and STEMI intervention. RNs will care for patients requiring ventilator support, SWAN-GANZ catheters, vasopressors, inotrope drips, high alert drips, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), IMPELLA devices, and chest tubes. Post Acute Care UnitsA Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Medicaid unit that has residents with multiple clinical issues including CHF, dehydration, cellulites, diabetes, DVT, and stable cardiac related issues needing monitoring. Nurses work closely with a variety of health care professionals including: doctors, social work, dieticians, PT/OT, hospice, and spiritual support. A Wing offers a well-rounded opportunity for learning, professional growth and personal satisfaction.B Wing is a 40 bed Medicare/Medicaid/Dementia unit. We provide care to residents with a variety of diagnoses. B wing is a great unit for nursing students to develop their organizational skills and gain some experience in dealing with challenging behaviors. This unit also works closely with a multidisciplinary team meets and discusses the resident’s plan of care.C Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Rehabilitation and Skilled unit and is a great place to learn basic med-surg, I.V. therapy & wound treatments nursing skills. Nurses on this unit along with host of healthcare professionals work to provide and implement the best treatment plan for residents. This fast paced and busy unit provide a great atmosphere for PT/OT residents to be motivated and reach their goals.About the facilityWith 2 floors, 4 units, we are able to provide care for long term care residents and post-acute rehab patients. The first floor has 96 beds and the second floor has 100 beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary depending on the shift and the population you will be serving. About the unit4 South is a 35 bed Progressive Care Unit. Our unit is a fast-paced, encouraging environment. We provide care for a wide range of patient needs, such as stroke, cardiac, and thoracic patients, to name a few. We assess patient’s NIHSS scale and provide treatment and education per protocol and treat Cardiac issues that may arise during their stay with medications and procedures. We do vital signs every four hours and hourly rounding on every patient. About the unitCPCU is a 28-bed unit consisting primarily of cardiac patients. We have 16 private rooms and 2 semiprivate in-patient rooms with 4 semi-private outpatient rooms. About the unitWelcome to 3 North Progressive Care. We are a 29 bed unit caring for a variety of adult patients. We primarily treat respiratory patients, but also manage cardiac, post-surgical, and patients with multiple comorbidities. All patients are monitored on remote telemetry. About this unitWe are a 64 bed Inpatient Rehab Unit that sees a variety of patients who need to work on both their functional and medical problems. We treat ortho patients recovering from hip fractures, complex knee replacement, back surgery with neurologic involvement, multi-trauma, and other orthopedic issues. We also see neurology patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Parkinson’s, MS, and any cancer diagnosis with functional decline. We also have patients come to our unit who had amputations and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the 7-day week. Nursing continues the interventions practiced by the patients in therapy sessions, to continue safe mobility. For many of our patients, Rehab is the key to getting back home with their families. This is a very rewarding unit to work on, as we all get to take part in the progress patients make towards their goal of getting home.*This is an office position that involves working with payors, providers and patients to obtain authorization for inpatient rehab services. About the unit2 East is a Surgical Critical Care Unit, specializing in cardiovascular surgical interventions. We also provide care to patients requiring general surgical interventions. Our nurses possess skills that allow them to demonstrate immense critical thinking and physical assessment skills which sets them apart as they continually manage acutely ill patients. The unit staff is comprised of RNs (registered nurses), NTs (nurse technicians) and CAs (clinical assistants). About the unitThe Medical Observation Unit consists of 54 beds. Patients are categorized as Observation secondary to insurance requirements. This is a medical unit. Patients are admitted from the Emergency Department with mental status changes, long term placement needs, pain, cardiac, TIA, r/o CVA, UTI, pneumonia, geriatric, and behavioral issues. If patients meet criteria for higher level of care they will be transferred to the assigned progressive or inpatient unit. Staff complete an assessment and shift documentation according to the Observation documentation policy. There is rapid patient turnover on this unit between patient discharges and transfers. About the unit3 East SICU is a general surgery floor and we typically take all general surgery patients, vascular, thoracic, and non-neuro trauma’s. A unique patient population that is specific to 3 East only is our Transplant, high risk OB, post-partem, and our ECMO Patients. Corewell Health-WBUH specializes in Kidney and Liver Transplant and 3 East is the first unit they come to after surgery. 3 East is also the only unit that receives ECMO patients throughout the whole Hospital System. 4CN is a twelve-bed unit that provides care for a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses. 4CN has the capacity to care for patients with ventilators. We also care for patients following reconstructive plastic surgery and many other general surgeries. About the unit3 East SICU is a general surgery floor and we typically take all general surgery patients, vascular, thoracic, and non-neuro trauma’s. A unique patient population that is specific to 3 East only is our Transplant, high risk OB, post-partem, and our ECMO Patients. Corewell Health-WBUH specializes in Kidney and Liver Transplant and 3 East is the first unit they come to after surgery. 3 East is also the only unit that receives ECMO patients throughout the whole Hospital System. We take care of a variety of patients with medical conditions and co-morbidities. We specialize on the acute care of the elderly. In addition to being a Magnet hospital, our staff are NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders) trained. Additional specialty training is provided to our staff in the care of geriatric patients. About this unit4 Center is a 22-bed surgical unit which specializes in patients with acute and chronic kidney and liver disease. We care for patients going for kidney and liver transplants and those undergoing nephrectomy for the purpose of donating. We admit our transplant patients prior to surgery and care for them post operatively after they are downgraded from ICU. Patient education is a large part of what we do, and we work closely with our Transplant Medical Team. We are very proud to be #1 in the nation for kidney transplant survival at one year after transplant. Our nurses also perform peritoneal dialysis. We do not perform hemodialysis. Some specific diagnoses’ are total knee, total hip, spinal fusions, and fractured hips. We are Stroke and Trauma certified and complete additional education every three months to better care for this population of patients. About the unitThis 31-bed unit is dedicated to Oncology and Med-Surg overflow. This unit schedules daily short stays for chemotherapy treatment, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and cardiac catheterization. Also specializes with surgical patients with epidurals and can accommodate telemetry patients. The nurse patient ratio is based on acuity, census, and activity.
