Job SummaryThe Clinical Nurse Specialist is an influential leader for a program or area of nursing practice. The advanced knowledge and skills required for this role include clinical expertise in a focus area, evidence-based practice, collaboration, consultation, education, mentoring and change leadership. The specialized knowledge and advanced practice nursing skills are used within three major areas of impact: patient/family, nurses and nursing practice and the organization/system. In collaboration with other members of the health care team, the CNS leads, provides, enhances and improves health care delivery by evaluating nursing practices, developing methodologies, establishing standards of care and providing consultative services. The CNS is a clinical expert in the theory-based and/or research-based nursing practice within a specialty area. Collaborates with nursing leadership to assure that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness and efficiency. Collaborates to create, coordinate, implement and evaluate formal and informal intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary education to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.Evaluates current and innovative practices in patient care on the basis of evidence-based practice, research, and experiential knowledge. Incorporates evidence-based practice guidelines, research and experiential knowledge to formulate, evaluate, and/or revise algorithms, policies, procedures, pathways and protocols. Facilitates processes of change within the healthcare system to provide evidence-based, cost effective care. Provides expertise to guide use of technology, products and devices within the specialty area.Leads in the conduct and application of nursing research and implementation of evidence based practice. About the Practice Greenville Family Medicine & Residency is a busy fast paced clinic focused on utilizing teamwork and communication to provide compassionate care to the patients of our community. In our practice we have six family medicine providers, nine resident providers, and offer additional on sight resources for patients such as a clinical pharmacist, care manager, social worker and population health nurse.
