About the unitThis 31-bed unit is dedicated to Oncology and Med-Surg overflow. This unit schedules daily short stays for chemotherapy treatment, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies and cardiac catheterization. Also specializes with surgical patients with epidurals and can accommodate telemetry patients. The nurse patient ratio is based on acuity, census, and activity. About the unitThe Medical Observation Unit consists of 54 beds. Patients are categorized as Observation secondary to insurance requirements. This is a medical unit. Patients are admitted from the Emergency Department with mental status changes, long term placement needs, pain, cardiac, TIA, r/o CVA, UTI, pneumonia, geriatric, and behavioral issues. If patients meet criteria for higher level of care they will be transferred to the assigned progressive or inpatient unit. Staff complete an assessment and shift documentation according to the Observation documentation policy. There is rapid patient turnover on this unit between patient discharges and transfers. About the unit3CN/5CN Intermediate Surgical Unit offers a dynamic patient care experience. 3 CN is a ten-bed unit thatspecializes in general surgery, vascular, and thoracic patients. We are the only progressive care unit in the hospital that can monitor arterial lines. 5 CN is a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery unit. About this unit9 North ACE unit is a 29-bed specialty unit for the care of medical patients 65 years old and older. We take care of a variety of patients with medical conditions and co-morbidities. We specialize on the acute care of the elderly. In addition to being a Magnet hospital, our staff are NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders) trained. Additional specialty training is provided to our staff in the care of geriatric patients. About this unitWe are a 64 bed Inpatient Rehab Unit that sees a variety of patients who need to work on both their functional and medical problems. We treat ortho patients recovering from hip fractures, complex knee replacement, back surgery with neurologic involvement, multi-trauma, and other orthopedic issues. We also see neurology patients recovering from stroke, brain and spinal cord tumors, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Parkinson’s, MS, and any cancer diagnosis with functional decline. We also have patients come to our unit who had amputations and other complex medical/surgical issues with functional decline. Patients participate in 15 hours of therapy across the 7-day week. Nursing continues the interventions practiced by the patients in therapy sessions, to continue safe mobility. For many of our patients, Rehab is the key to getting back home with their families. About this unit4 Center is a 22-bed surgical unit which specializes in patients with acute and chronic kidney and liver disease. We care for patients going for kidney and liver transplants and those undergoing nephrectomy for the purpose of donating. We admit our transplant patients prior to surgery and care for them post operatively after they are downgraded from ICU. Patient education is a large part of what we do, and we work closely with our Transplant Medical Team. We are very proud to be #1 in the nation for kidney transplant survival at one year after transplant. Our nurses also perform peritoneal dialysis. We do not perform hemodialysis. ICU Nursing Intermediate Care is a high-energy unit that promotes a positive culture and work environment with flexible scheduling; we strive to maintain a competitive nurse to patient ratio. Nurses on this unit are teamwork oriented and have excellent support staff which include nursing assistants, telemetry technicians and unit secretaries. A 39-bed unit, Critical Care Step Down is committed to providing high quality patient and family centered care for patient populations with various medical conditions including pulmonary, cardiac, neurological disorders, and post-operative care for the surgical patient who requires a higher level of nursing care. CCSU also cares for ventilated tracheostomy patients.All unit staff attends both hospital and nursing orientation and receives unit-specific orientation. About the unitWe are a 13-bed ICU with the addition of a 4-bed surgical SICU at a Level 3 Trauma Hospital. We are a unit dedicated to innovation and process improvement which lead to the most beneficial patient outcomes. Furthermore, the CCU strives for excellence in workplace satisfaction. About the unitSICU cares for patients 15 and over who are hemodynamically unstable and who require continuous medication infusions, and/or intensive nursing care. SICU is a very faced paced intensive care unit that cares for a large population of Level 1 and Level 2 trauma patients. Other patients commonly cared for in SICU include neurosurgery, neurology, vascular surgery, and other acute surgical patients. The unit serves as the hospital’s stroke designated ICU, and massive transfusion experts. Specialized equipment used in SICU include CRRT, Level 1 transfuser, Camino ICP monitor, and ventriculostomy Accudrain. Nurse to patient ratio is typically 2:1 unless patient acuity calls for 1:1 nursing care. About this unit5 Surgical is a 24-bed unit with all private rooms. We primarily care surgical and trauma patients, these surgeries include bariatric, general, trauma and gynecological patients. Although our focus is surgical and trauma related, we also care for patients with medical conditions as well. We are equipped to monitor up to 8 patients on portable telemetry monitors. About the unitWe are a 35 bed Patient Family Centered Care ( PFCC ) Rehabilitation Unit designed for patients with Intensive therapy needs. Our patient's average length of stay is between 12 –14 days. We provide a transitional setting between the hospital and the patient's home. It is ideal for those who are medically stable, motivated and able to physically tolerate three hours of therapy per day, five days per week. About this unitPCU is a 30-bed unit divided into two wings. All beds are private and have telemetry capability. The unit admits patients age 15 through end of life. PCU is the stroke designated unit for new stroke and post tPA patients. The unit also has a neurology and pulmonary focus. ACLS certification is required within 6 months of employment.
