What will you do
Advanceand maintains and welding processes on various items and equipment using a variety of processes (GMAW, GTAW, CMT) for the purpose of ensuring the effectiveness, consistency, safety and quality compliance of the operations welding team’s production.Monitorthrough both data analysis and visual observation, the effectiveness and consistency of each production welder and conducts training as required.Collaboratewith other departments and operators to help ensure the first-time success of all casting repair welds and to support other personnel the successful completion of their work activities.Workto develop advanced casting welding techniques across a variety of alloys including but not limited to alternate welding technologies and automated welding solutions for the purpose of advancing CPP’s welding capabilities, effectiveness, and welding first time pass rateAcquire additional certifications and credentials as required for work or career development
What do you need to be successful
BS in Welding Engineering or Metallurgical EngineeringMinimum 5 years practical experienceHands-on welding experienceGTAW (TIG) welding experience mandatoryGMAW (MIG) welding experience preferredAerospace welding and qualificationExperience translating customer and industry requirements into practical and understandable procedures and work instructionsAbility to read and interpret customer and industry specifications, engineering drawingsExperience with GTAW (TIG) welding alloys with the following bases:AluminumMagnesiumStrongly preferred: Nickel and/or TitaniumExperiencein welding of castings strongly preferredExcellent troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skillsEffective data analysis skills; minimum 6 Sigma Green Belt training or equivalentAutomated welding experience strongly desiredFamiliarity with NDT inspection technologies: X-ray, FPI, visual, ultrasonic wall thickness measurement
