Staff who are members of this team fill unit needs that occur due to above average census or acuity, vacations and medical leaves. The nurse working in this area has the ability to be flexible and intelligent as their assignment can be different every day. This group also fills the role of the Children’s Hospital Rescue Nurse who responds to Pediatric Rapid Response, Pediatric Trauma Codes and Pediatric Code Blues. A Children’s Rescue Nurse also provides Nitrous Oxide for pediatric procedures and acts as one of many resources for nurses providing direct patient care. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
