Our Quality Lab Technician is an exciting role that plays an important part in the quality of our cement. Challenge yourself with math and other engaging activities in this team environment. This position reports to our Plant Chemist.
This position resides in Nazareth, PA and when coverage is required 8 to 12 hr shifts may be required including days, nights, and weekends.
What you’ll get to do:
Ensure sample integrity and properly collect, identify, prepare and homogenize and store all samplesCollect, record, store, analyze and distribute information concerning quality control resultsCommunicate all appropriate results, information and problems to the appropriate supervisors, foremen and plant associatesMonitor the quality of the quarried materials through the appropriate testingControl the quality of the raw mill production, finish mill production, and kiln production by performing the appropriate tests and making any necessary changes to maintain the posted targetsPerform testing that will enhance the production rate or quality of all plant operationsLearn the procedure for the making of glass pelletsEnsure all plant production meets the specifications of the company, the plant and the customer by performing appropriate testingPerform tests to resolve customer complaints and meet customer needsMonitor all laboratory equipment and plant equipment for proper operation and report any deviations to the proper personnelPerform tests to determine the quality of fuelsDetermine the quality of purchased materials by performing the appropriate testsPerform production and inventory record keeping dutiesFollow plant and MSHA Safety Policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment. Maintain an awareness of plant environmental standards. Takes corrective action to address minor problems or reports compliance issues to appropriate supervisor for resolution.
Who we are looking for:
2-year degree in Chemistry or similar technical degree beneficial but not required.Must be capable of lifting a bag of cement from the floor to the workbench (Type I bag = 94 pounds)Must be able to work weekends and or Holidays for laboratory coverage.Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
