Assists in the daily routines of the Imaging Department. Responsible for performing any procedures that are part of General Radiology, including special procedures, OR cases, portable exams, etc. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.RESPONSIBILITIES:Performs direct patient care: Applies knowledge of anatomy, positioning and radiographic techniques for each exam. Determines exposure factors to achieve optimum radiographic techniques with minimum radiation exposure. Follows the ALARA principle in incorporating collimation and shielding in accordance with policy and procedures. Performs any special procedures as part of DI services, prepares contrast media for exams as needed. Greets Patients/family in professional manner and can adequately listen and take care of patient concerns or refer concerns as needed. Utilizes two patient identifiers per policy, verifies Provider order accuracy, educates patients pre/during and post procedure. Ensures that patients are properly dressed and prepped for all exams. Maintains Equipment, supplies, cleanliness and Safety: Follows CPH Infection control P&P with regards to Isolation, universal precautions, cleansing of equipment. Maintains an adequate amount of supplies within exam rooms as needed for schedule. Performs daily QA/QC on equipment as required per manufacturer and/or NYS-reports any mechanical issues or system errors to Biomed Department. Wears radiation film badge per guidelines and turns in each month for monitoring.
