Job Summary:
The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Operating Room is responsible for supporting the Nurse Manager in overseeing the daily operations and staff of the OR. This role includes ensuring high standards of patient care, coordinating surgical services, and managing staff performance and development. The Assistant Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and effective environment for both patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management:
a. Assist in the overall management and coordination of the OR, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
b. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and regulatory standards.
c. Oversee the maintenance of equipment and supplies, ensuring readiness for surgical procedures

a. Monitor and ensure high-quality patient care and safety in the OR.
b. Address patient and family concerns, providing exceptional customer service.
c. Collaborate with surgical teams to optimize patient outcomes and enhance the patient experience.
3. Staff Supervision and Development:
a. Assist in recruiting, training, and evaluating OR staff both Nurses and CSTs.
b. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to nursing staff, promoting professional development and a positive work environment.
c. Conduct performance evaluations and support continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Quality Improvement:
a. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
b. Analyze and address areas for improvement in patient care and OR processes.
c. Implement best practices and evidence-based protocols to enhance OR efficiency and patient safety.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
a. Foster effective communication and collaboration among surgical teams, nursing staff, and other departments.
b. Attend and contribute to OR and hospital-wide meetings and committees.
c. Serve as a liaison between nursing staff and management, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
6. Support:
a. Rotating with the Nurse Manager, be available for on-call support as needed to address urgent issues and maintain seamless OR operations in a Level 1 Trauma Center
7. Metrics:
a. Participate in the development and monitoring of departmental and organizational metrics.
b. Ensure alignment with hospital-wide goals and initiatives to drive overall quality and efficiency.Qualifications Bachelors Degree and/or appropriate certification required.Specific work experience may be necessary.Minimum two years relevant clinical experience required. Experience leading employees, preferred.Strong communications skills required - both written and verbal.
