The NP demonstrates the advanced knowledge, skills, and credentialing required to function in advanced practice and expanded specialty nursing. The NP has the responsibility and accountability for the assessment and management of patients, including ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions and the day to day implementation and evaluation of an appropriate plan of care. As an advanced practitioner, the NP is essential to the case management of patient with specialized health needs. The NP works in collaboration with the attending physician, primary nurse and other health care providers to provide family centered care.
