Looking to impact aviation for years to come Your work on RISE Technologies, including our Open Fan architecture, will usher in a new era of propulsion technology for next-generation aircraft and pave the way for a more sustainable future.The Advanced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will report to the Advanced Combustor Diffuser Nozzle (CDN) design sub-section manager and be responsible for the mechanical design, manufacture, and delivery of hardware used in the development testing of the next generation of narrow body jet engines. You will be responsible for the design of combustor hardware (e.g. combustor, structures, fuel nozzles) on RISE engine ground/flight test demonstrators, rig tests, and product designs.This position has the flexibility of optional hybrid schedule once fully trained. The hybrid schedule consists of working in the office minimum of 3 days per week and the option to work from home on the other days, based on team/project schedules.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesWork with a closely integrated team of engineers and scientists to design the next generation of jet engine turbomachinery.Work closely with internal and external manufacturing organizations to deliver hardware for rig, core, and full engine testing.Technical lead of a team of engineers to design and manufacture combustors for demonstrator programsDevelop and implement plans to ensure that contract requirements are fulfilled.Lead efforts to solve both technical and schedule related problems.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other personnel.Present work to subject matter experts and program leaders at technical reviews.Ensure work is thoroughly documented.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeAt least 5 additional years of engineering experience in hot static hardware such as: combustor, case, flow path structure, after burner, and/or frameDesired Characteristics6+ years of experience in the design, analysis, manufacture or testing of structural or hot gas propulsion components.Strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.Established project management skills.At GE Aerospace, we have a relentless dedication to the future of safe and more sustainable flight and believe in our talented people to make it happen.
