About the unitThis unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This unit’s primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care, open-heart patients direct from the OR, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR procedure, and STEMI intervention. RNs will care for patients requiring ventilator support, SWAN-GANZ catheters, vasopressors, inotrope drips, high alert drips, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), IMPELLA devices, and chest tubes. About the unitThe 4th floor (4NS) is a cardiac progressive care unit. We have 36 beds with 30 semi-private rooms and 3 semi-private rooms, which includes 1 negative pressure room.Each patient has a telemetry monitor that they are required to wear at all times while on the unit. We take many types of patients including hemodynamically stable adults ages 18 or greater that require monitoring every four hours. The unit can take pediatric patients ages 14 or greater into a private room with a guardian present. Common diagnoses include cardiac intervention, pre-CABG, arrhythmias, blood pressure abnormalities, congestive heart failure, substance abuse, and general medical patients. The unit also takes medication drips including antiarrhythmic medications, IV nitroglycerin, heparin, non-titrating dopamine, and IV inotropic (not including levophed, neosynephrine, or labetalol). The unit does not take ventilators or heated high flow oxygen modalities. The 4th floor is a fast paced, high-energy environment that thrives on teamwork, kindness, and respect from all team members. Post Acute Care UnitsA Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Medicaid unit that has residents with multiple clinical issues including CHF, dehydration, cellulites, diabetes, DVT, and stable cardiac related issues needing monitoring. Nurses work closely with a variety of health care professionals including: doctors, social work, dieticians, PT/OT, hospice, and spiritual support. A Wing offers a well-rounded opportunity for learning, professional growth and personal satisfaction.B Wing is a 40 bed Medicare/Medicaid/Dementia unit. We provide care to residents with a variety of diagnoses. B wing is a great unit for nursing students to develop their organizational skills and gain some experience in dealing with challenging behaviors. This unit also works closely with a multidisciplinary team meets and discusses the resident’s plan of care.C Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Rehabilitation and Skilled unit and is a great place to learn basic med-surg, I.V. therapy & wound treatments nursing skills. Nurses on this unit along with host of healthcare professionals work to provide and implement the best treatment plan for residents. This fast paced and busy unit provide a great atmosphere for PT/OT residents to be motivated and reach their goals.About the facilityWith 2 floors, 4 units, we are able to provide care for long term care residents and post-acute rehab patients. The first floor has 96 beds and the second floor has 100 beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary depending on the shift and the population you will be serving. We care for dementia residents, long term care and a rehab residents. With 196 beds, we accept but not limited to patient specialties, such as general rehab, neuro rehab, cardiac, respiratory and cancer. About the unit4 Med Surg is comprised of a 38-bed unit with all private rooms. The unit includes 4 bariatric capable rooms, 2 negative pressure rooms and telemetry capability. We take a variety of patients including but not limited to renal issues, abdominal pain, complicated UTIs, post-op patients, CIWA patients, psych patients, SOB/COPD exacerbation, hospice, anemia, pneumonia, DVT, and seizure management. About the unitSICU cares for patients 15 and over who are hemodynamically unstable and who require continuous medication infusions, and/or intensive nursing care. SICU is a very faced paced intensive care unit that cares for a large population of Level 1 and Level 2 trauma patients. Other patients commonly cared for in SICU include neurosurgery, neurology, vascular surgery, and other acute surgical patients. The unit serves as the hospital’s stroke designated ICU, and massive transfusion experts. Specialized equipment used in SICU include CRRT, Level 1 transfuser, Camino ICP monitor, and ventriculostomy Accudrain. Nurse to patient ratio is typically 2:1 unless patient acuity calls for 1:1 nursing care. SICU is known for their outstanding teamwork, welcoming environment and multidisciplinary approach to patient care. About this unit5 Surgical is a 24-bed unit with all private rooms. We primarily care surgical and trauma patients, these surgeries include bariatric, general, trauma and gynecological patients. Although our focus is surgical and trauma related, we also care for patients with medical conditions as well. We are equipped to monitor up to 8 patients on portable telemetry monitors.
