The Cardiac Cath Lab at Dearborn supports 4 procedural labs and 16 pre and post-procedure bays. As the referral center for the surrounding communities, we see and treat both elective and emergent patients with cardiac and vascular conditions. Utilizing the most up to date technology and supplies, the lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, while specializing in high risk angioplasty with the use of heart support devices. About the unitThis unit is a 16-bed cardiovascular/cardiothoracic care unit. This unit’s primary specialty is post-open heart/CABG patients. Post-op CABG patients will recover in the ICU for 2-3 days. The patient population will include cardiac procedure requiring ICU level care, open-heart patients direct from the OR, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, TAVR procedure, and STEMI intervention. RNs will care for patients requiring ventilator support, SWAN-GANZ catheters, vasopressors, inotrope drips, high alert drips, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), IMPELLA devices, and chest tubes. About the unitThis is Neuro Surgery focused Medical Surgical floor that was established in 3/2018. Our patients include the post-operative surgical patients related to Spine and Ortho Spine, C- Spine, Lumbar and Thoracic Spine surgeries, as well as patients staying for Extended recovery after general out-patient surgical procedures. The Medical patient population includes, Mental Status changes, Seizures, GI bleed, Pneumonia. About the unitThe 4th floor (4NS) is a cardiac progressive care unit. We have 36 beds with 30 semi-private rooms and 3 semi-private rooms, which includes 1 negative pressure room.Each patient has a telemetry monitor that they are required to wear at all times while on the unit. We take many types of patients including hemodynamically stable adults ages 18 or greater that require monitoring every four hours. The unit can take pediatric patients ages 14 or greater into a private room with a guardian present. Common diagnoses include cardiac intervention, pre-CABG, arrhythmias, blood pressure abnormalities, congestive heart failure, substance abuse, and general medical patients. The unit also takes medication drips including antiarrhythmic medications, IV nitroglycerin, heparin, non-titrating dopamine, and IV inotropic (not including levophed, neosynephrine, or labetalol). The unit does not take ventilators or heated high flow oxygen modalities. The 4th floor is a fast paced, high-energy environment that thrives on teamwork, kindness, and respect from all team members. About the unit6 North is a 32-bed surgical floor that offers a great learning environment fostered by our team of exceptional nurses. 6 North offers experiences that are normally not found in Med-Surg clinical rotation. The unit has a focus on surgical conditions including urology procedures, major and minor abdominal surgeries, ENT, bariatric and pulmonary surgeries, peripheral vascular procedures as well as other general surgical post-op needs. Post Acute Care UnitsA Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Medicaid unit that has residents with multiple clinical issues including CHF, dehydration, cellulites, diabetes, DVT, and stable cardiac related issues needing monitoring. Nurses work closely with a variety of health care professionals including: doctors, social work, dieticians, PT/OT, hospice, and spiritual support. A Wing offers a well-rounded opportunity for learning, professional growth and personal satisfaction.B Wing is a 40 bed Medicare/Medicaid/Dementia unit. We provide care to residents with a variety of diagnoses. B wing is a great unit for nursing students to develop their organizational skills and gain some experience in dealing with challenging behaviors. This unit also works closely with a multidisciplinary team meets and discusses the resident’s plan of care.C Wing is a 58 bed Medicare/Rehabilitation and Skilled unit and is a great place to learn basic med-surg, I.V. therapy & wound treatments nursing skills. The first floor has 96 beds and the second floor has 100 beds. Nurse-patient ratios vary depending on the shift and the population you will be serving. We care for dementia residents, long term care and a rehab residents.
