The Cardiac Cath Lab at Dearborn supports 4 procedural labs and 16 pre and post-procedure bays. As the referral center for the surrounding communities, we see and treat both elective and emergent patients with cardiac and vascular conditions. Utilizing the most up to date technology and supplies, the lab performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral procedures, while specializing in high risk angioplasty with the use of heart support devices. In addition, we specialize in chronic total occlusions and structural heart procedures with in-lab TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve replacement). About the unitThe Short Stay Unit/Observation Unit is a 50 bed unit (private rooms), specialized in caring for the adult population with a variety of diagnoses. A multi-disciplinary team approach in care, treatment and disposition within 23 hours. Patients can come to our unit from all areas: Emergency Center, Operating Room, procedural areas, directly from home or from their primary care physician’s office. The unit has 20 telemetry beds for patients who require cardiac monitoring. Our specialty is “All Non-Critical Specialties”, due to the wide range of diagnosis. Collaborative 24-hour patient care is provided within an effective interdisciplinary care team including Trauma mid-level providers, physical and occupational therapists, nursing assistants and case managers. The unit has the capability of 4 telemetry beds. About the unit9 South is a 32 bed medical unit that cares for a wide variety of diagnosis and multiple chronic co-morbidities in the patients with an age range 18-100+. On our unit houses our ACE (Acute Care of the Elderly) program; This program helps to avoid complications for our patients 65+ so that they can return to their baseline function prior to their hospitalization and hopefully return to the home setting. The unit also sees a variety of medical overflow so you will never be bored. Our patients include the post-operative surgical patients related to Spine and Ortho Spine, C- Spine, Lumbar and Thoracic Spine surgeries, as well as patients staying for Extended recovery after general out-patient surgical procedures. About the unitThe 4th floor (4NS) is a cardiac progressive care unit. We have 36 beds with 30 semi-private rooms and 3 semi-private rooms, which includes 1 negative pressure room.Each patient has a telemetry monitor that they are required to wear at all times while on the unit. We take many types of patients including hemodynamically stable adults ages 18 or greater that require monitoring every four hours. The unit can take pediatric patients ages 14 or greater into a private room with a guardian present. Common diagnoses include cardiac intervention, pre-CABG, arrhythmias, blood pressure abnormalities, congestive heart failure, substance abuse, and general medical patients. The unit also takes medication drips including antiarrhythmic medications, IV nitroglycerin, heparin, non-titrating dopamine, and IV inotropic (not including levophed, neosynephrine, or labetalol). The unit does not take ventilators or heated high flow oxygen modalities. The 4th floor is a fast paced, high-energy environment that thrives on teamwork, kindness, and respect from all team members. About the unitWe are a 35 bed Patient Family Centered Care ( PFCC ) Rehabilitation Unit designed for patients with Intensive therapy needs. Our patient's average length of stay is between 12 –14 days. We provide a transitional setting between the hospital and the patient's home. It is ideal for those who are medically stable, motivated and able to physically tolerate three hours of therapy per day, five days per week. Our team includes patients, their families, and other medical and case management professions. Taylor - Full time, 36 hours per week, midnight shift, $10,000 sign on bonus!Job SummaryUnder minimal direction, the Registered Respiratory Therapist: implements and evaluates diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory services to assist physicians in the diagnosis and management of patients with cardiopulmonary and related disorders; participates in the education of patients, students, staff and physicians; provides technical support for all equipment related to the practice of Respiratory Care; assists with general department functions.Essential FunctionsProvides general respiratory therapeutic services including oxygen therapy, medical gas therapy, bronchodilator therapy, airway maintenance therapy and non-invasive ventilation (NIV).Provides diagnostic respiratory services and non-invasive monitoring including pulse oximetry, arterial blood gas procurement, capnography, pulmonary function testing, apnea screening, bronchoscopy assistance and EKG procurement.Ventilator management, non-invasive ventilation, arterial blood gas sampling/analysis, administration and monitoring of oxygen use, aerosolized medications, and therapeutic modalities.Performs critical care procedures including airway management, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation and patient transport. Member of CPR/Code Blue and Rapid Response teams.Assessment of patients and recommendation of patient care plans per established protocols. Perform and provide chart review, documentation, patient and family education regarding disease process and treatment plan.Preceptor for students and staff.Cleans, assembles and maintains equipment per infection control guidelines.Troubleshoots problems to ensure proper functioning of respiratory equipment.Assist with general department functions.May be cross trained in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), pediatric units as appropriate.QualificationsRequired Associate's Degree Respiratory TherapyEligible for position after attainment of RRT NBRC status.
