Remains self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Assists the operations manager with administrative duties and provides technical direction and staff supervision when applicable. This position is full-time working Monday - Saturday; shifts vary. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (55%) Patient Imaging Screens patients before examination for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examinationPerforms all required PET and nuclear medicine procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgment in evaluating the diagnostic studiesExplains and prepares patients for procedures that will be performed,explaining the procedure, positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned and providing patient support by talking to patients throughout the procedureMonitors the condition of any patient within the department and assists the radiologist in performing needed medical attention, if applicableConducts examinations with regard to patient's age, condition or other special requirementsAssists the radiologist during the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures as requiredRecognizes allergic reactions and respond in accordance to company policies and procedures for emergency patient carePrepares examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing of films, adequate clinical history and previous x-rays for comparison (if available)Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care servicesReports contamination to Radiation Safety OfficerMaintains accurate patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS) (25%) Staff Supervision Ensures comprehensive knowledge of company policies, procedures and protocols for all CT technologistsAssists in staff planning and hiring process along with managementManages overall staffing levels for adequate modality coverage at all timesMonitors and approves timecardsOversees and assists with training of new CT technologists, providing resource and technical expertiseInitiates and participates in staff performance evaluations, compensation and development of associates including performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions and/or termination of associatesLeads regular staff meetings and employee one-on-ones (15%) Operations Maintains the PET equipment and cleans and disinfects equipment after each use, checks to ensure emergency equipment is in good working orderTakes corrective action for any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdownsEnsures an orderly and clean work area in all modalities to promote good safety habits for patients and teamCoordinates patient relations, ensuring a high quality of patient service is deliveredEnsures compliance with state regulations and internal policies regarding documentation and tracking of safety and licensing-related itemsMaintains an updated PET protocol manual and software upgradesOrders appropriate supplies as necessary following company guidelines on inventory controlAssists in patient scheduling, darkroom operations, filing films, administrative billing, maintaining records or other areas assigned (5%) Performs other duties as assigned
