What you will doThe Test Engineer will “manage” a test throughout the process from test design and planning through execution to completion including preliminary analysis of data results. This individual possesses a working knowledge of HVAC/R equipment and its application. This individual has experience with component or system testing, test procedure development, and mechanical fluid or airflow system design, troubleshooting or operation. They are required to singularly manage the testing process for individual test subjects in order to successfully and efficiently complete testing within the product area. They will conceive, develop, and evaluate plans for solving complex testing challenges. An advanced level team contributor with strong technical expertise in HVAC who will assist in training of personnel in the laboratory as well as defining and supporting the implementation of operational improvement of testing.How you will do it Provide technical communications for test engineering to project customer(s).Plan and execute tests of chillers and components. This may include:- Participate in the development of and/or receive and review test specifications from customer group; seek out and acquire needs from other areas/disciplines who may wish to benefit from testing a particular subject.- Significant track record as lead project management over successful mechanical HVAC/R installations- Use input from the customer group(s) to facilitate test plans and identify resource (human, physical) requirements.- Meet with product engineering, product management, product technical support or equivalent groups to agree upon and issue test plans.- Work within the test engineering team to schedule tests and required resources.- Provide oversight and input to test technicians for set up of data acquisition software configurations.- Work with labor, test support, and engineering resources to actively manage the test from set up to completion. What you will doPerforms detailed engineering tasks to include evaluation of engineering alternatives, analysis of data, calculations, CAD drawings, preparation of specifications and reports for the design, development, construction, and commissioning for mechanical, refrigeration, and process (MRP) elements required for HVAC test facilities. This position interacts with engineers, suppliers, and other departments to facilitate project completion. Project work includes MRP systems that simulate precise and extreme environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, precipitation (rain, snow, ice, fog, salt, etc.), air flow, liquid flow, and high-pressure vapor flow.How you will do itDevelop conceptual designs and cost estimates for related MRP project elements during budgeting (Capital Appropriations Request, CAR) and initial project phases.Collect, analyze, and interpret data, develop engineering computer programs (e.g. Excel, EES, LabView) and designs basic process systems, sub-systems, and components.Prepare final designs including drawings, requests for quote (RFQs), bills of material (BOMs), and construction specifications.
