The Flagger is responsible for directing the flow of traffic around construction sites, road maintenance areas, and other work zones. This role involves setting up and taking down traffic control signs, cones, and barricades to ensure the safety of workers and the public. The Flagger uses hand signals, signs, and other traffic control devices to communicate with motorists and guide them safely through or around the work area. The position requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and the capability to stand for extended periods.
Job Duties:
Set up signs, cones, and other traffic control devices around work areas to divert traffic. Effectively manage traffic flow with stop/slow paddles. Maintain clear and effective communication with team members using two-way radios. Regularly required to stand and walk and reach with hands and arms for up to 10 hours a day. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items over 50 pounds. Drive company vehicles to transport traffic control equipment to and from job sites. Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure vehicles are in good working condition. Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, moving equipment and machinery parts, moving traffic, fumes, and airborne particles. Noise level of the work environment is usually moderate to loud. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for Industrial Maintenance of Building.Performs Building / Industrial maintenance duties (i.e., basic plumbing, refrigeration systems, electrical; running of wire/data cables, repair dock doors/plates; basic welding, basic carpentry, painting, storage rack repairs, drywall)Review any equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintains a repair log per USF policy.Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance) on equipment, and maintain PM log with proper documentation, per USF policy.Comply with all USF and government guidelines regarding safety when working on equipment (i.e. Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding and required documentation, safe work environment, etc.)Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment used in performance of job duties, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area.RELATIONSHIPSInternal: Warehouse personnel and supervisory staff, Operations support, Maintenance and Sanitation personnelExternal: Outside vendorsQUALIFICATIONSRelated Experience: A minimum of six months previous Building Maintenance experience required.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of Building Maintenance, electrical knowledge, basic plumbing, welding and carpentry; able to read and write legibly; able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide); able to work with little direct supervisionPreferred (not needed): equipment repair and operation; able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipmentPhysical Requirements:JOB REQUIRES WORKER TO:1.
