Sustaining activities include Value Analysis/Value Engineering, assisting product technical support, manufacturing personnel (Factory), and other compressor & chiller engineers in the business unit globally. VA/VE is a technique used to deliver high product/service value to customers by reducing cost and/or improving functionality without compromising on quality. New product introduction (NPI) assignments will include new compressor and/or component design and coordination of prototype design and build activities.What you will doExecute VA/VE projects as defined by the chiller and compressor engineering teams. Revise components, assemblies and/or processes as needed to improve compressor efficiency and/or reduce cost. Based on requirements supplied by product management and chiller engineering, design new centrifugal compressors. Interface with aero and other compressor engineers as needed to facilitate this work. Collaborate with designers to revise/update existing drawings and bill of material (BOM) to implement quality or VA/VE improvements or to create new drawings and BOM’s for NPI projects. Be the compressor representative assigned to an 8D team or other formal quality process for centrifugal products when customer issues are identified.How will you do itExecute improvement projects for quality, cost, performance, and reliability of existing centrifugal products.Collaborate with other compressor and aero engineers to design new centrifugal compressors.Work with designers in the creation of drawings and BOM’s to implement product improvements or to support the release of new centrifugal designs.Review and approve drawings prior to release for manufacturing.Lead/participate in formal problem-solving activities.Be a resource for other compressor engineers in support of their VA/VE projects.Assist product technical support, quality, manufacturing, compressor build room technicians, and other compressor engineers as needed to help resolve field issues.Coordinate agency approval activities (UL, etc.) for compressor engineering.What we look forTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. What you will doThe Test Engineer will “manage” a test throughout the process from test design and planning through execution to completion including preliminary analysis of data results. This individual possesses a working knowledge of HVAC/R equipment and its application. This individual has experience with component or system testing, test procedure development, and mechanical fluid or airflow system design, troubleshooting or operation.
