Outpatient and inpatient procedures are performed for an annual total of approximately 24,000 procedures. Nurse to patient ratio is always one to one. The nurse is usually assigned to a specific OR at the start of their shift and complete the cases scheduled in that OR. The operating room performs elective & scheduled surgeries, along with urgent and emergent surgeries. We have ten specialized surgery teams: including orthopedic inpatient; orthopedic outpatient; cardiovascular; urology; OB/GYN; ear, nose and throat; ophthalmology; general and robotic; pediatrics; and neurosurgery and plastic surgery. The skills of these ten specialized surgery teams provide quality care to patients, while giving team members the opportunity to develop and utilize their abilities. Nurses in the OR start as a circulator nurse, which includes: maintain a sterile field/environment, verify surgical consent, verify correct supplies, & instruments, assist the CRNA & Anesthesiologist in induction and emergence, position the patient safely, and understand the different surgical procedures & their steps to be able to anticipate the necessary supplies, instruments, and equipment.
