POSITION SUMMARY: The Physical Therapist - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13 week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings. On assignment the Physical Therapist assesses the need for, develops, and delivers physical therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation. The Physical Therapist identifies the need for and makes referral(s) to other disciplines to address the comprehensive needs of patients. They implement individualized therapy programs designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. In addition, the Physical Therapist instructs, educates and trains patients and caregivers in those skills and functions essential for promoting independence and productivity, in order to diminish or correct pathology. Rehab Associates of Central Virginia’s strong patient population further defines its reputation for delivering effective, personalized healthcare solutions.ResponsibilitiesAssesses patients and develops and initiates treatment plans based on the evaluation results.Review the Physician's referral (Prescription) and the patient's condition and medical records to determine the physical therapy treatment required.Provides direct patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.Documents findings, progress, and instructions to patients and caregivers.Responsible for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians.Completes a written plan of care, develops goals based on evaluation findings, and develops a comprehensive program to attain goals.Implements physical therapy treatment program and provides essential physical therapy treatments.Communicates effectively with patients/caregivers and professional colleagues, including physicians and insurance companies.Ensure timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, initial evaluations, discharge summaries, and incident reports.RequirementsGraduate from CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy program.Current state of Virginia license or ability to obtain Virginia license and CPR certification.Able to create and implement outpatient balance and vestibular rehabilitation-setting treatment plans.Ability to work efficiently/effectively in an autonomous environment.Possesses basic PC skills and knowledge, including but not limited to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, Database software, and MS Office.About LynchburgA quintessential Virginia city with a leafy veneer, Lynchburg is a powerful industrial heart with a history that dates from John Lynch’s first ferry crossing of the James River in 1757.
