The Frame Interior Design & Test Development departments lead responsible is to guarantee development for relevant development and research projects. Leads and develops processes that encourage employee contribution and associate development in order to meet the productivity and efficiency targets of the division.
- Works with Division Leader to translate higher level company and division strategies into department-level strategies and tactics necessary to achieve short and long term goals. Establishes department vision, clear objectives and action plans for department members to execute. Conducts department initiative progress check-ins, resolving problems and ensuring results are delivered on-time to achieve business objectives.
- Responsible for balancing priorities and available resources to achieve departmental objectives. Works with Group Leaders to establish overall project/work schedules for all responsible functions of the department. Supports Division Lead in developing processes and procedures to manage division workforce, relationships with other divisions/Honda companies, key suppliers and vendors.
- Directs assigned staff, including conducting performance appraisal and capability assessment, conducting Succession Planning for management roles and assisting other key functions in the same. Ensures resolution of associate relations issues/concerns, proposing corrective or disciplinary actions. Act as mentor to leaders within the department.
- Responsible for department completion of development evaluations (Maru Qs) and R-evaluation requests, including approval of readiness to proceed to company evaluation, confirmation that expert technical verification has been conducted, and verification of achievement levels vs criteria.
- Demonstrates and ensures positive, open communication within department and division, directing the flow of communication within the division and initiating/utilizing/promoting effective communication tools.
- When needed, takes on special assignments to support ADC, business unit or division needs.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in related discipline (e.g. Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent work experience
- 10+ years of related work experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering; 15+ years of related work experience in manufacturing or R&D environment may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree or combination of same
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve maximum results
- Experience establishing KPI’s to ensure progress of achieving goals
- Strong knowledge of departmental operations, policies and procedures
- Superior project management and process improvement skills
- Superior interpersonal communication, mentoring and relationship building skills
- Advanced resource management skills
- Superior negotiation and conflict resolution skills

- Physical Requirements: Sitting 80%, Standing 5%, Walking 15%, Lift/Carry 50 lb 1%, Travel up to 10%,
- Possible international travel.
- Overtime: overtime expected based on project demands/responsibilities
